Anyone know of good typing software?
I'm just looking for tests, not learning. I have used up most of the ones I see on the internet for free and am not against purchasing one if had a wide variety. After you've done them once your memory takes over and even a little bit skews your results. I have a test on Friday and need to practice right up until then. Thanks,

Have you practiced typing from a text (paper, magazine, book, etc.) at your side and not only what's in front of you on the screen?

Yes, but it's just not the same. I'm trying to recreate the test as closely as possible and it will be an on screen test. Don't get me wrong, I'm typing like crazy just to get better with the keys but for performance evaluation I need an actual test....to measure improvement (if any).

I know this test allows you to correct mistakes but even then there are variants. I'm just trying to cover my bases. The requirement isn't very high but I don't touch type. I'm somewhere between touch type and hunt/peck. I average high thirties and the requirement is thirty-five wpm. I would like to get up around 45 by Friday. I considered a crash course in touch type but decided it could do more harm than good if I get brain freeze during the test. My method sucks but at least it's second nature at this point.

What if they throw some strange keyboard at you? One of those split winged MS jobs? Are you comfortable on multiple keyboards? Some have slight differences on some keys. Try the library for alternatives?
Good luck by the way! |

Thanks,I was thinking of trying the library even if just for the change in atmosphere/environment. I assume the "stations" there would be similar to the "stations at the department.
