LOST Season 5, Ep. 8
Any guesses as to the identity of Horace and Amy's son? It's gotta be someone we met so far. Obviously NOT one of the Oceanic Six. Can't be Farraday or Miles. Lapitas would be too old. Not Ben or Locke, either... Caesar? I doubt it....
I have a feeling that the majority of the rest of the show will take place in 1974; if you think about it, it's an ingenious move by the writers - they are finally in a situation to give us answers to the questions they introduced in Season 1 (although we didn't find out until Season 2 that the Dharma Initiative was closely tied to the mysteries of the Island). The survivors LITERALLY had to "go back" in order to find their answers and solve their puzzles. After all, the writers introduced this world of 1974 Dharma Initiative waaaay back when, and only gave us a piece of the big picture a little bit at a time. And, man - Jack and Sawyer definitely have the same taste in women, huh?

I originally missed that it was 1974 and thought it might be John. Once I realized the year, I started sorting through characters, and Desmond was who I thought fit the role the best.
I definitely like the way this season is unfolding.

I had to leave the room for a few minutes, I missed what happened after Sawyer convinced Juliet to stay for two more weeks. Why didnt they leave in two weeks? Next thing I saw was 'three years later' and they are living together. Did they say what happened, or that it just fast forwarded three years?

How about the Horace reference? ..does that make Richard Alpert a reference to the final Roman victor, Augustus. Horace fought against him (Richard/Augustus), and then had a amnesty/ truce with him.

Correct me if I'm wrong but during the "re-cap" at the beginning, they saw one of the statues. I don't recall them seeing that when they showed that part in a prior episode.
Remember the talk a couple of weeks ago about Sawyer running the camera for Dr. Candle in the season opener....it's making more sense now.

That statue is most likely what they have "previously" seen as a four toed fragment of a statue in a prior episode when they sailed around the island.
I hope they explain that further, but I imagine it is not integral to the story, and that is all we will get.

I agree, the first time we saw it intact was tonight. That is when the time travel was coming to an end...does that mean the statue is still intact in 1974 when the time travel finally stops? Should be interesting.

I guarantee you that Sun and Sayid are in 1977, too. I am guessing that Locke, Ben, and Lapidus are in 2007, because the Hydra Station is abandoned. Not sure what Desmond is up to right now, but my guess is that Ben killed Penny or tried to kill her before they got on the Ajira Airlines plane, so Desmond will once again seek the Island (this time with Whidmore's help?) in order to settle the score.

Hmm. Somehow I doubt it, but I have no proof to refute you. I still think it will end up being Desmond. Only time will tell, I suppose.

I think Desmond is too old. Charlie's about the right age for when they landed in 2003. He'd have been 26. I put Demond at mid 30's or close to 40. Don't know why.

Well from a logical standpoint, i dont think the 'actor' who played Charlie is going to be on the show anymore since he left, so it has to be Desmond,.
