Used diesel automobile resources...

Anyone have any links, phone numbers or addresses - anything other than Ebay - to find and potentially purchase a used diesel automobile. I looked at a VW TDI site last night, but the pickings are slim there. It seems as if few people are parting with their diesels. And a Mercedes 300, while nice, is a bit too old.

Any help would be appreciated.

That is a pretty good site for VW's. One of the most unreliable cars in the world. I should know I have 2 TDI's

That's the site I was on last night. There's a couple of nice Golf TDIs, though they're a model or two old.

Why do you say "unreliable," unless you're facetious, since you have two TDIs.

My MIL bought a 2007 Golf TDi despite my warnings. The interior rattles and shakes like a 92 Cavalier, and it's constantly in the shop now. Just recently developped an appetite for sets of glow plugs every few months. Just about anything electric has been a wild card on that thing... power windows, ABS, lights.

What about an 3-4 year old e320 CDi?

The wifey and I bought an 02 Jetta TDI. I have had to replace a bunch of parts. And they are parts that shouldn't fail. Alt., wheel bearings, instrument cluster, ECU, switches, sensors etc. We love the TDI's. They ride good, are a good size for us, and they get 45 to 50 mpg. Plus when modifyed they go like stink for a 1.9L diesel.

Her car was in my shop getting fixed so much that I thought we should buy another one so we could have at least one TDI running all the time. My 2000 Jetta TDI seems to break while hers is getting repaired.

If there was another car out there like a Jetta TDI I would consider it. But there isn't so I would get another one.

Yes, there are so many cool diesel cars and trucks everywhere else in the world, but virtually none of them have come into the U.S.

I'd consider the Mercedes, but I want something not as large, and gets better fuel mileage. 40-50 mpg is a good start.

I wish I could import something. Like a diesel C-series Mercedes, or an Accord 2.2 turbo diesel. I'm not sure Subaru builds diesels; but a diesel Outback would be near perfect, IMO.

Two friends are selling their TDIs:

1999.5 Jetta GL TDI 5 spd with LOTS of miles, cheap
2002 Jetta GLS TDI automatic with NEW motor

Let me know if you have any interest at all.
It's a good time to buy diesel vehicles as gas got cheap again.
But diesel is cheap too, about $.05 more than gas here, where it was $1.00 more last year.
