Inglourious Basterds
Any Quentin Tarantino fans here?
His new film is kinda the polar opposite of Valkyrie!

Looks more like a Dirty Dozen remake to me.
Can't say that I'll be holding my breath.

It's Quentin Tarantino. I can't wait to see. Never a disappointment from him. My only complaint: Why not pick someone more manly than Brad Pitt. Don't get me wrong he's okay actor but there are others who would be better.

Did you see Fight Club? I saw Basterds and it was great! Col Landa was PERFECT! Holy crap that guy was devious! I think Pitt did a great job! I'll own this DVD when it comes out. And I don't own a lot of movies. Btw, TONS of subtitles! A lot of the movie is in French or German. And of course, lots of this >

in the old days christians+lions were entertainment. violence is nothing new.
however, fake movie violence is a step forward. watch the show, no one is hurt. |

people crave entertainment. that's why there are jugglers, that's why books are written, that's why there are movies.
some people like "bambi", some like "the gunfight at the o. k. corral". now that i recall, there was some violence in "bambi" as well. blame people. |

Saw it last night. Have to see it again because my freakin' new contacts and our seat location made the subtitles nearly unreadable (I'll rent the DVD when it's out).
While it may be an "in" thing to like Tarantino, I like his work because of its uniqueness - can't really think of other directors to compare him to. I'm not a "fan" of violence in movies but, to me, Tarantino's use of it somehow transcends being gratuitous. If it were taken out I think the "adult comic book" character that I percieve and like in all his work would be diminished. If I have any criticism of the movie it's that some portions struck me as moving at a "Twin Peaks" pace, which worked for Lynch but I didn't care for it in this movie (could have to do with my freakin' contacts ).

Not as violent as one could expected. The movie is amazing, but then end is a disapointment to me.

I'm a pretty big Quentin Tarentino fan. Pulp Fiction is one of my favorite movies - probably seen it 10 times. I greatly enjoyed Inglorious Basterds, but I'm with Porschegal on Brad Pitt...
He's extremely pretty (and obviously has married VERY well), but he's kinda dainty looking. I'm quite sure that he'd snap like a twig after a couple of vigourous bounces if you know what I mean. angela
