IMO some of Mark Knopfler's best work.
This is the instrumental part from sultans of swing, tight.
The first time I just focused on Mark's guitar work, the second time I noticed the serious drumming. Who is that guy? They're all pretty darned good.

Brothers in arms at Montserrat with a full orchestra, starts out slow and beautiful, gets deep at around 5:30.

I'm going to post an artist completely different than any such posted yet..
I think this guy has a gift, and this first clip shows it.. "Endtroducing" was a milestone album when it was released...

Video should start 2:50 into it...

My Guitar Hero

My 14 year old son Bobby playing his guitar. He probably looks familiar to the So-Cal Pelicanites because he is usually with me at events.

He and I jamb together (I'm his Drummer). I'm in Charleston as my other threads are centered around. I told him to record another jamb for me. He uses the computer for drums when I'm not around.

He is my Guitar hero...He is really getting good.

On that tubular bells video, did anyone else notice the guitar that came in around 3:00 was tuned flat?
Now I'm trying to figure out if he did it on purpose for some deep kind of harmony, or if it was just a mistake. gurus? Anyone?

OMG Vonzipper - great post! Sweet Jebus...

He might be bat-sheet crazy but has amazing feel and emotion in his music.

There was a repeat performance yesterday of The Band's last gig. Bob Dylan, Van Morison, Emmy Lou Harris, Dr. John and I thought I saw Charlie Daniels. I'm sure I missed a couple more.

Total Agree some high quality guitar playing. The orchestra just sets it off.

My pick
