I kinda want an e46 m3
i have an 86 911 with some stuff done, plenty of room for suspension work, as i havnt done that yet, but im getting bored a little with the car and I want a car I feel comfortable driving more than 5 times a yr, what do you guys think are there people out there that would do a straight up trade?
my 911 has 130k with a top end rebuild about 10k ago runs good looks good and I have all the stock parts as well, i did all the work myself on the car fab painting etc also what do you guys know about m3's i heard the first yrs of e46 had engine issues? do they have the rear subframe issues as well? thanks tom

I've also been looking for an E46 M3 - I have an E36 now. I found a couple possible candidates, but they were turds.
Here's my thread on the subject Tell me about E46 M3's...

'86 Carrera, 130k, probably worth $15-20k, ballpark. That's the extreme low end for E46 M3, you'll have a hard time with a straight trade.

Also: the early E46 M3's did have engine issues (up thru 2003 or so), but there was a recall and these should have been fixed. You can take the VIN to the BMW dealer service dept and have it checked to see if the recall work was done.
Get a PPI on any car you're thinking of buying.
