Those multimedia keyboards have buttons all over the place. Perhaps resting your hand on the browser button?

Thanks for the heads up on Ad Aware, Jim. Nothing mentioned on their site that I noticed.

Nope it will just start going and going and going
Not every day this happens..
but once in a while..Last time was this Am over on a dodge site (DTR) Not their fault . It will happen any where
It acts like a stuck key but is just a HP junk Lap top

What kind of window? A windows explorer window (your file system) or a internet browser window? Does this happen when you startup, open an application or browser your filesystem, or when you launch a web browser?

afterburn 549 03-17-2009 11:14 AM

My Browser window (google )

masraum 03-17-2009 11:20 AM

nope, not a problem for me. Your stuff's broke! I'd agree, probably an adware/spyware problem. I've even seen Dells have a weird mouse/keyboard problem where they get a mind of their own.

stomachmonkey 03-17-2009 11:24 AM

As said could be a stuck keyboard.

Very slim but could also be your cell phone.

I've had a couple of brands/models that make funky stuff happen when placed too close to a puter.

afterburn 549 03-17-2009 11:31 AM

Now there is a idea ! That might be it !

JavaBrewer 03-17-2009 11:32 AM

On our Mac I had selected all the folders in my music folder and accidentally hit the enter key while I was moving them to another directory. It proceeded to try and open in a separate window every folder... so user error occurs on Mac too guys...

You said it has happened on several windows machines. Different keyboards or the same? With it being a browser window (which browser?) then I would bet some sort of spyware.

afterburn 549 03-17-2009 11:58 AM

several diff computers and boards

That isn't a user error - that's how the OS is supposed to work.

Call me crazy but having several hundred finder windows opening at once classifies as user error to me. Yes that's what the OS is supposed to do so I didn't ***** at the Mac OS...well...sorta... ;)

I had this happen the other day (no porn on this machine) while on a realtor.com page. New windows kept appearing and I had to use task manager to stop the madness. since then I've had it happen once more, not @ realtor.com, and some other funky stuff with IE, like not shutting down, not responding until I start task manager, etc.

I just thought it was typical MS crap, but now I running adaware and will run spybot s+d when that finishes. Will report back when finished.

Os. like SOP. I get it thanx
This is my 3rd Lap top from Hp..all have crapped out....and I would not care so much if they had taken care of it in a professional manner.
Was like 6 months B4 they replaced the 1st one . Each time it became a heated dispute.
If they would have fixed it or taken care of it in a timely manor I would having nothing to complain about
HP, for me?
Not ever again !!!!!

mudman 03-17-2009 04:11 PM

Not sure if this was the problem, but Adaware just found monitoring software in my wife's IE temp folders. After talking with the other user of this computer I found the cause.

And I am a happy man.

I found and eradicated malware, and my wife likes naked chicks

Thats what I use as well. I had the multiple windows thing happen recently too. I had to do the hard boot shut down and stop it. I ran both above mentioned programs and haven't had a problem since. My daughter goes on alot of sites (Club Penguin, Nickkids, Disney, Disney fairys, Miniclips ...etc.) and they all seem to load this computer with a bunch of UNWANTED spyware. I typically scan after each time she is done using the computer. Its only happened once so far. KNOCK ON WOOD. :D
