Some good suggestions. We're doing # 20.

I guess they think pretty highly about their own back yard. I know, I know, but the paper is distributed across the globe.

Been to 22... the other ones look interesting. Penang, South Africa and India are on my short list of destinations vying for my vacation time this year.

Big sissy here, but aren't there a few of those where there's good odds of being robbed, kidnapped, or murdered?

Frankly, I would skip India this year unless you planning on staying in more remote places. Many of the 'can't miss' areas of India are prime targets for the nut jobs in Pakistan. Do you trust the Indian government to secure these areas? I sure as hell don't.

I stayed at the Trident (next door to the Oberoi) in Mumbai about 8 months before it was attacked. Traveled through VT station as well. My wife is Indian, and neither one of us is afraid of risky travel, but this has even us spooked.

Note taken. We actually came very close to traveling to Pakistan 2-3 years ago to visit friends who live near the Karakoram Highway in Shimshal, but ended up calling it off because of concern for our safety in the cities.

We're adventurous travelers (for 3-4 years almost all of my travel was mountaineering related) but while I'm willing to brave high rates of theft, sketchy street food, lack of plumbing and stuff like that I draw the line when the risk of physical harm becomes a factor.

I've done 14.

Any place in Mexico is a surprise listing for me:

eh, I'd say it is more coincidental on my part... I just counted seven that I hit in a single two month trip when I was 20. My parents are big travelers, so some of the places (e.g. Monterrey) I hit when I was less than ten years old. And both sides of my family are from PA, so I have been on many PA farms
