Thumbs up First wife, how much did it cost you

Split with the first 1 in 1990 cost me about $250,000.00, I don't hate her but if she got hit by a bus I'd buy the beer!

Just my sanity.

J/K. Still as in love as the day I met her. I've been a very, very lucky guy in love. Less lucky in everything else, but I wouldn't change it.

Let's see . . .

All of my portion of the equity in the house (our 3rd).
Part of my government pension (this will pain me in the twilight years).
Basically, I started over financially at 38.

I also lost my very active full-time relationship with my 2 kids (joint custody isn't really joint - ever). I am close with them but I missed so much of their day to day teen years. This is/was the hardest part & why I will never, ever forgive her.

On the plus side, I found my real soulmate & we have enjoyed the last 18 years together.

Half the house on two acres in Carbon Canyon, all the furniture, the German Shepard, I missed that dog, the good car, but, we weren't married long enough for her to get half my retirement.
The best way to get even is to do better.

Been married to my first wife for 49 years (yesterday). Haven't ever seen a need for a second wife.

Best,
Tom

Yep, being as I'm still on my first (30 yrs in Dec.), it's unknown how much she will cost me. But it's worth every penny so far!

20+ years of my life and over a mil. I got 2 great kids out of the deal though. Luckily they were a bit older when we split but that's been the only bad part, not seeing them as often. Wasn't all her fault, she's not evil, just a bit "off" and not very honest. We got married too young and I didn't have the life experience to know my situation sucked. I'm happy she's gone and the price paid was well worth it.

Holy cow! A "contract" has to be cheaper than that.

$600K of my stuff. Killed my Goldie, lost my faith in some folks. Realized that Lying and cheating can be a bummer.

you guys all make too much money.

I had to give up the Davidson tandem bike in the first one. And she got the cats. Other than that I kept my stuff and there was no house or other communal property.

Its been over for 15 years and I'm still adding the costs. Missing out on the 3 to 12 yr of my daughter has no monetary price.
