Anyone else getting the 2’nd call for your extended auto warranty about to expire?
All family and all my friends keep getting this call twice a month that starts off like:
“This is you second notice that your extended car warranty is about to expire...” Going on for a long time now, anyone else??? |
I HATE THAT CALL!!!! I just tell them my car was born in 68 and they say they'll leave you alone. but they never do.
|
I have been getting them for about a year. There seems to be no way to get off the call/mail list.
|
I've gotten it about a dozen times now for my Mercedes. Really starting to annoy the f*ck out of me. The people that set up these auto-dialers should burn in a very special corner of hell for all eternity.
Thank goodness for caller ID (I don't answer #'s I don't recognize and let it go to voice mail) but eventually I do have to check it, so it still ends up wasting time. Extremely annoying. |
For the first year I would just hang up. The caller # seems to alternate between visible numbers and un-registered numbers?
Just this year I actually listened to the message to the end where they pronounce: “Press 0 to speak to a company representative or press 1 to quite receiving this message” Pressing 0 hangs up the phone and you can guess what pressing 1 does :) |
I don't get calls, (do not call list, never bought an extended warrenty), but I used to get quite a few cards in the mail trying to sell me a warrenty. I just toss 'em out.

Ok, I’m seeing the pattern here…
It’s the West Coast people getting these calls :( I have never bought a used car warranty which is bugging the $hit out of me why they are calling? |
Why are we b!tching? We drive cars that are 20 years old. If someone wants to sell me a warranty on this financial timebomb, I'm all for it! I'll gladly pay a grand or two for a policy that'll pick up the inevitable $15-25K rebuild.

I bought the warranty on my M.B. because newer cars scare the crap out of me (lots of electronics thing-a-ma-jigs in them that are insanely expensive to diagnose and replace). Most of the mechanical stuff I've done myself (brakes, oil & fluid changes, etc.) The warranty paid to replace a burned-out "auto-dimming" mirror, a faulty crank position sensor, a hood shock and I think one or two other things thus far - nothing major but still about $1,200-$1,500 worth of parts/labor, something like $600 for just the parts if I'd done it all myself. It's good for another two years and I've got another $2,500-or-so to make up in order to break even on what the warranty cost me so it's likely I'll end up considerably behind versus the purchase price of it (about $4k for 4 years). Even so, I think it's been worth having - the peace of mind is rather nice for a person who's never had a warranty (or a "newer" - as in <10 years old - car ever in his life). The thought that if something goes seriously wrong (other than a clutch) I don't have to turn any wrenches is a very nice one. Worth $4k to me.
My biggest beef was/is that the warranty does not cover clutch replacement. A new clutch on a Mercedes SLK manual is around $800, but it takes a long time to do (as clutches always do). I dread the PITA of it and having the car down for repair more than I do the cost, honestly. And I normally like fixing stuff. I just hope it doesn't decide to go anytime soon (way, way, way too busy right now!) No way I'd ever pay a shop the $2,500 or whatever obscene amount they charge for it though. |

I used to get this call a couple of times a month. But recently the calls have dropped off and I haven't had one in a few months. They are real annoying because it was a different number every time.
|
True.
As a general rule, if it's not a # or area code you recognize, don't bother answering. Calls that are blocked (i.e. "Private Call") I never answer. |
I got them all the time on my cell phone and at work. Only the toyota dealer could have had all those pieces of info.
i called toyota and pitched a beotch, they said they had nothing to do with it. BS. I filed a complaint with the FCC and placed all mu numbers on the do-not call list. Guess what? No more calls in over a month. |
I get them on my cell phone monthly. And I haven't bought a new car since 1989.
|
They just use random dialers. They have no idea what you drive but the percentages are in their favor that you have a car that will qualify. Biggest rip off yet.
I try to play along and give my name as a South East Asian, "Mr. Suk Mi Dyk." |

It's telemarketing, that's all. |
Guys, I listened to these calls all the way to the end of the message.
Not once did they mention a Co name or offering to sell me anything? At the end of the call it will say press “0” to speak to a representative or “1” to quite receiving this call. Clicking either one will just hang the phone up  |
