That's true.

I've often said that we're all crazy and the secret is to find someone who's pathology compliments your own.

I used to bartend it topless bars. Dancers, waitresses, hostesses, they were all crazy. Occasionally, one would start and several months later would still seem sane. Those were the ones that really scared me because when you eventually figured out what the problem was, it was a really scary one. THat's why you didn't find out sooner, because they work really hard to hide it.

Just respond to her that you know exactly what it means. When she asks you to be more definite just respond "Wanna fuch?"

Very interesting puzzle.

First off, what is the background of this woman? Do you have any idea?

Is there anything about you that is related to 5, 18, Press, or Return? Like on your online dating page, is there someting that would put those numbers and words in sequence?

"Press Return" comes up many times in various computer related instructions. Found it on an Amega website, and a bunch of software manuals.

Also: it looks like it may be C++ for-loop code related:
Dreamincode website
Can't see more on that site - you have to register. Grrr....

I suspect that the colons in the 5:18 may need to be replaced with something else, like a "/" (as in 5/18 or May 18)

Or, 5.18 may be an episode of a TV show (Season 5, episode 18 of that season). There was a CSI: NY Episode that kinda fits: "Episode 5.18 - Point of No Return"

Here's someting: "5.18" and "Press Return" on the same page -
See page 53 of this PDF file.
Does she have anything to do with Jersey Glass?

Could be music related. Found this:

There's a group called "Press Return." Their myspace site. Genre: acoustic/indie/melodramatic. (Definately melodramatic - whinny music - a bit off-key at times too. IMHO)

Is her name "Kathy" by any chance? This is a stretch, but there's a song called "Kathy's Song" by an obscure German group "Apoptygma Berzerk" There's a bunch of older computer-lingo references in various mixes of that song. (Like "Scan Procedure Complete" "Access Granted," "Connecting to Neural net," - but alot of those phrases are over-layed with music - hard to hear them all) Listening to the various mixes of that song which I have - haven't found "5:18 - press return" yet.

Here's the lyrics to that song:
Quote:

Oh my love it's time
You know how it feels
You read between the lines
You know me better than I do
I lost again my friend
You know I'm not a saint
You knew it all this time
Still you've been waiting for me...

Oh my love it's time
You know how it feels
You read between the lines
And know me better than I do
I'm lost again my friend
You know I'm not a saint
You've known it all this time
Still you've been waiting for me...

Come lie next to me
Know why, you and me are one
Come lie next to me
No lies, you and me are one

Come lie next to me
Know why, you and me are one
Come lie next to me
No lies, you and me are one

Please Come lie next to me
Know why, you and me are one
Come lie next to me
No lies, you and me are one

Come lie next to me
Know why, you and me are one
Come lie next to me
No lies, you and me are one

Come lie next to me
Know why, you and me are one
Come lie next to me
No lies, you and me are one

You know I'm not a saint...
You know I'm not a saint...
You know I'm not a saint...
You know I'm not a saint...
You know I'm not a saint...
Can you give us a bit more to go by? This is very puzzling.

So what's the context from the movie?

I tried watching the movie once. I think I made it about 15 minutes.

Too bad you didn't post that before I posted my 'theories' up. Would have saved me a good 25 minutes of googling...

Interesting. I have not seen the movie, but based on the wikiP description, it does not seem to be one that an airhead bimbo would like. Maybe that is a bad thing, depends what you are looking for. I suggest you rent the movie and watch it, may give you an idea of her tastes plus answer the puzzler. If you don't like what you see, put her in touch w/ Jared . . .

If you're really in a hurry to get back to her, you might be able to find a site where you can watch the movie online. Like http://www.jaman.com/movie/Pi/0uLO8XAgExls/

Dammit.... you got here before I did! :D

That movie inspired me to get into quant finance (although it doesn't represent the field accurately at all).

aEven though you've found out where it's from, I suggest you reply and say

"No. I don't know what it means." If she snubs you because you don't know her favorite movie quote, you're better off. It will free you up to find a woman on there who actually wants to make friends or have a relationship or whatever.

It's a snippet of speech from which the main character is reciting his daily routine of analysis with his computers.

I think, that in context, it symbolizes his descent into madness from his obsessions and gifts.

I went to the premiere of this film many years ago. It's very interesting how the director got the movie made.

"9:22, Personal note: When I was a little kid my mother told me not to stare into the sun, so once when I was six, I did. At first the brightness was overwhelming, but I had seen that before. I kept looking, forcing myself not to blink, and then the brightness began to dissolve. My pupils shrunk to pinholes and everything came into focus and for a moment I understood. "

Just reply "Cannonball, cannonball coming".

How is it possible to date someone online?

Is that kinda like driving a race car using a computer game system?

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the help. The Pi movie turned out to be correct. I ran all your theories past her, letting he know I got some help, and she got a kick out of it. We're set for a coffee meeting next week. She's cute, 5'0" tall and French. Should be fun.

The collective knowledge of a group of people is a powerful thing, and you guys rarely fail to impress.

Well it's kind of like fixing your porsche on line. You still have to turn the wrench.

Yea, there's a lot of skeptics out there, but if you're single today the internet should be a part of your overall strategy. Lots of very normal people out there sick of trying to hook up in bars, health club, etc.

And of course, you don't really date on line. You just meet on line. Technology is a powerful thing if you can figure out how to use it. The computer won't kiss the girl for you...you still get to do that in real life, thank God. SmileWavy

Martin,
Now it is time to turn tables on her. Ask her to id an obscure / strange quote.

May I suggest the following:

Ask her if she knows what 5 degrees BTDC means.

rammstein 03-27-2009 11:27 AM

Agreed- you need to return the favor with a harder question. Especially if she's hot.

That's not a good idea - she finds out that you're a car/Porsche geek, it's all over! :p
