Mine weighs about 2900lbs empty.

The 16V 928 V-8 is a dead straight forward engine to work on. Nothing complex about it at all.

I consider it to be an engineering masterpiece for it's day.

There's not really anything on that car that a DIY'er cannot do himself. Though it is extremely labor intensive to get at some items.
The 928 is built and disassembles like an onion.
