I am feeling stressed

Back from a hectic day at work, I just can`t seem to be able to relax, wine down and enjoy the week-end. There was something weird in the air today. We had this huge downpour, then in the afternoon the news from this shooting in NY state. A guy laid off from IBM, a place where I have been. Me trying to get the University to support half my salary, and not getting an answer. While at the same time, meetings are occuring in Nevada to decide if my big battery contract will be signed or not. These two unknown putting me at the crossroads, of either being out of work in two months, or having about a year of job security and work ahead of me. Sometimes, the safety cushion is stretched too thin, I feel like I am riding on the edge of the cliff. Not a sensation that I enjoy. I could pour myself a Vodka cocktail, but I do not even know if it would change that anxious state, and that is not a habit I want to get into. And I forgot to buy some Kendall GT1. Sorry for the rambling guys, how are YOU doing?

Well i would suggest you either:

A) Smoke a doobie and drink some wine

or

B) Go to the range with a 12 gauge shotgun and blow up some fruit or waterjugs.

Sniper's second suggestion is excellent. If you don't get the salary support or the contract, you will need the shotgun to go postal.

Sorry to hear you're stressed, have a beer and kick back it's the weekend.

The killings in Binghamton are pretty depressing. I didn't hear a thing on the news that the guy was laid off from IBM, that's very interesting.

Relax, try to calm your mind.
Meditate concentrating on only your breathing; focus on your breathing in/out until your mind is settled. In/Out heavy breathing. Relax your body.

Think about things that you are grateful for, with honest thankfulness. Calm your mind by thinking about some of your favorite moments. Visualize those moments reliving the joy.

Once your mind is still. Think about each thing that is on your mind. Think about it in EXACTLY the way YOU want the outcome, nothing else. Do this for approx. 30 seconds on each item. You are thinking only of how you want the outcome to be, not anything else. Put your mind to the point of expecting these things and their outcome. Be satisfied that this will be the outcome. Then let it go.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, look for things that make you happy. Be happy.
Maybe repeat this procedure once each day?

*ME*, I'm fine, thanks for asking!

your emotion, is indicating the ratio between your currently focused desire and any other belief or thought that you hold about same. When you feel negative emotion, anger about something, or fear... The name of the emotion does not matter, it always means that there is a desire within you that, in this moment, you are contradicting with some other thought. Your emotions are always about your relationship with your own desire, and nothing else. - e. Hicks, author

Rob, thank you. I really appreciate this insight you just gave me. Understanding the source of emotions as a disconnect between desires and thoughts, and the remedy which is focused positive thinking. We always underestimate how powerful thoughts really are, and how we can project our own fear or positivity to affect the outcome of events.
Now, if only I could overcome the fear of people who have to make key decisions that concern my future, I`d be all set. I know they are fearful too, and the problem is, I do not have sufficient access to them. Those who know me are not the problem. They know what to expect. The issue comes with the decision makers who do not know me personally.

I always think that in the workplace, there are three categories of people: those who totally depend on others to provide work for them and receive directions. We shall call them the working bees. Then you have those who can carry their own weight, be their own boss by creating and executing all their work. But they do not have much power because they are a one man show. I would belong to that category.
And finally, you have those who not only carry their own weight with ease, but also carry others and can provide for them. Not all can do that, I wish I did, but I fear it would cause me too much anxiety. There is a balance to be found here, as responsibilities give power and freedom, but can wear you down. Anyhow, those were the thoughts a man who should be sleeping .

Stressed? Hit the gym, go for a run, pump some iron, work out.

Exercise does wonder for stress.
