ugh...cell fell in the hot tub...best smartphone going?

My Samsung schi-760 just took a bath with me in the hot tub

I really like this phone but odds are it's a goner. It's in rice with the battery out but I'm not holding my breath. I don't think they make it anymore either.

So what is the current king of the hill? I like a full tactile keyboard and the rest is just gravy. I'm on Verizon, thanks.

Man that blows as I hadn't backed it up recently.....I'm on a roll here

I hear ya but I doubt it. I caught her as she was approaching the bottom and she gave out a last death flicker before I could get the battery out.

Unfortunately, most cells have water detectors on the PC board, and on the batts that show immersion. I got one to actually come back, but when I went in for another batt, the salesman saw the indicators and informed me that the warranty was a goner and the phone was soon to follow.

He was right. Sorry. Was Verizon as well.

On Verizon your best smartphone choice with a physical qwerty keyboard is probably a Blackberry.

I have Verison and got the Samsung Omnia and it closely rivals the Iphone except it runs on windows but that has a lot of positives. Best of all it has a great 5mp camera and takes beautiful pictures. It also has a business card reader that takes a pictures of a buisinesscard and reads the text and puts it in your contacts. I drive my Iphone buddies crazy at work with this phone. I also installed a program that will allow my phone to double as a wireless router for my laptop so I can surf teh net anywhere and at 3g speed. Man I am sounding like a geek. Anyway - check it out. I think they have a $99 deal now.

Well the phone (sans battery) is in my oven at 160 degrees while I go and look at possible replacements.

The Omnia looks cool but I really doubt I'll like the touch screen only and goofy hanging stylus.

The BB Curve probably suits me just fine and is cheaper, we'll see.

Wife has the BB 8130.

Nice phone. I happen to like BB products.

Real easy to DIY in case your wife drops it on a construction site and it's laying 3 inches deep in a muddy puddle of water for 2 hours.

Just let it dry out for a week.

My partner dropped his into a full car wash bucket last month, it worked fine once it dried out. Just be patient.

Where's your sense of adventure?

Anyway, five hours at 190 degrees did the trick, she works like new!

I'm syncing her up right now just in case.

My phone came back from a ride on my Waverunner this summer. Congrats on getting the phone back. If you do move on, I suggest a blackberry.

yes I thought the same about the touch screen but you get used to it and start to like it. I ditched the stylus

lendaddy,

Are you interested in the Motorola Q? I'm replacing mine with the iPhone and will need to get rid of the Motorola Q and extra battery.

My MotoQ9C has been a good one. It takes all the knocks and grease and grime that I can throw at it while on my hip. (I detested my original Q)

This one is still kicking after it's trip into the oven, I'm feeling pretty good about it. I had to readjust the screen calibration but everything else is a go so far.
