Post pictures of the house where you lived when you were born.

1) What is the farthest you've ever lived from that place?

2) How close to that place do you live now?

I'll start. East Oakland, CA. (Ours was the little house in the middle.)

I lived in London for a year and New York for 5 years. I now live about 15 miles east of the house I was born in.

From Google maps;

I wouldn't even know how to search for it...a turkey ranch in Patterson, California?
I doubt it's still standing...

No photos of the first house. Last two times I was there, in Garland, TX, it was night time and no good for photos.

However, here's one of me in front of our second house in Wylie, TX, sort of close to where Southfork Ranch from the tv show, Dallas, was. This was a great place to grow up. So much space, great outdoors, could shoot rifles in the front yard, fish in the back, ride dirt bikes. A slice of heaven when it had 2700 people back then. Now it's up to 20,000.

And we left that for this, in Flemington, NJ. Also a lot of space, but no gun culture at all and a totally different world. My folks sold this one two years ago.

If you know the address, use google maps street view.

Found it on Google Earth... East Glendale Avenue, Alexandria, VA... we lived in the end unit... the downstairs apartment to the left.

Had a chill run through me just now as I was looking for it... that side street to the left there is Ramsey Street. My first we-were-both-crazy-in-love girlfriend's last name was Ramsey.

*cue the theme to Twilight Zone*

I never knew the name of that street. If she knew, it would freak her out, too.

I had some buddies who lived on Ramsey St. and often took one of them to work a few times a week. I know that neighborhood well. That's the Ramsey by the Braddock Rd. Metro station, if I'm not mistaken.

They cut down all the trees on the street about 20 years ago because the roots were ruining the sidewalks and pipes. San Diego suburbs, part of the post-war boom, built 1958.

Farthest I've lived away from there is San Francisco (19th and Cabrillo - 505 miles away). Presently live about 131 miles away.

No pictures on hand, but satellite images of the rough location where I lived when I was little here:

We lived in a small 2 bedroom flat on Feuerbacher-Tal in the middle of Feuerbach, Stuttgart, Germany:

Which, in relation to Stuttgart, is here:

Yes... that is just a few kilometers from the Zuffenhausen factory....

EDIT: oops I forgot- I moved to the St. Louis area in the United States and now currently live in Rolla, MO. So that is the furthest away I have lived. So that is what, about 5,000 miles?

i'll play, i grew up in a small town just outside of youngstown ohio, it was a company town back when steel mills were the main industry, my grandfather settled there when he was young before the war with my grandmother and started his family after he got back from WWII in this house which my father bought off of him after he married my mother.......it's changed a bit.....garage is gone......but i remember every detail of it from living there until i was 17 and booked........
i found these pics when it went on the market a couple years ago......

i stood in that corner many many times......and learned how to take a door off the hinges by pulling the pin at the same time LOL

brings back many memories every time i look at them , some good, alot bad, but i'm glad someone bought the house and restored it, all the woodwork around the fireplace and shelves to the right were handmade by my grandfather who passed away when i was in 2nd grade......still looks great and i'm glad it never got painted over

I live a mile from where I was born. I've lived in many locations in Long Beach, but the furthest I've lived away is Talladega AL (one year). I also lived in the OC for 12 years. Glad to be back on this side of the Orange Curtain, but not necessarily in the ghetto. I just knew when I came back to CA I would not be in Orange County. That's an intellectual ghetto, for the most part.

This is the earliest house I remember. A rental in Ypsilanti, Michigan. On Google earth, the house is gone but I may have the address wrong. This was taken around 1954 - 55.

Timms Hill Road, Haddam, CT. No street number and clearly the Google car hasn't driven by yet, and doubt it ever will.

1. Victoria, TX otherwise known as hell

2. 1.5 hours away now.

Other than when in basic training I have lived within 50 miles of where I do now (NW Ohio) including college and I intend to remain here till I die as it is home. I love to visit the mountains and lakes and oceans, but I enjoy the 4 seasons and enjoy having my own runway out my back door.

Born in Pasadena CA:

Where I live in NorCal is 416 miles north.

Only lived there one year (little apartment, don't remember a thing), then to Monrovia until I was 6, raised in Escondido, CA (518 miles south). After high school and college in NorCal, back to SoCal, lived in Irvine for almost 20 years, now in Petaluma for 5 years. So just the same state, but 2/3 in SoCal and 1/3 in NorCal.

You guys are a bunch of spoiled brats.... Here is my mine and the neighborhood. Proud of it too! No joke.

Note that when I lived there, the roof was made of dried grass and walls were made of bamboo. What you see is actually 'upgraded.'

Born in Manhattan. Lived there for a couple years, then started moving. Illinois, Taipei Taiwan, Paris France, Strasbourg France, New Jersey, Vancouver BC, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay Area, now Portland. So, farthest away from birthplace was, what, 8000 miles or so?
