Anyone near Carmel Indiana?

Going to be in Carmel Indiana for some Bosch training the last week of May.
Just wondering what there is to do in the area, short visit but may have some free time to goof around in the evening.

If you've never been there, a visit to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum is definitely worth the trip. A short hop from Carmel/north Indy.

Extended hours during May instead of the normal 9-5.

A friend of mine in the Chicago area works for Blaupunkt.

And Carmel is about a two-hour drive from here.

Had in-laws that lived in Carmel. It really is just a big, upscale suburb just north of Indy. Nothing special in Carmel worth going to see, everything is down in Indy which is only 15 minutes if it isn't rush hour.

I live in Carmel. Skip the museums and hit Fast Times Karting. Indoor go karts at 96th street and Keystone, just south of Woodland Bowl.

well...Indy is the only place in the world with go karts.

Hey K9! I live in Carmel. I would like to meet up with you, but since i work for an Indycar team, May is really busy for me. Depending on which days you are here, there alot to see at the speedway. Community day is the 20th, which means full access to the garages and pit lane for around $10. We will be doing pitstop practice and there are alot of vintage cars around. Carb day is 22nd. Last practice and pitstop compitition. Lots of beer and bands and breasts. Get to the museam, skip the karts.

I moved from the Carmel area in 96. I do miss the track and the other motor sports events. I miss the month of may at the track I left soon after the IRL not a big fan of the IRL. Great museums get to the track for sure. St Elmos downtown for a steak. Strip clubs are above average I have been told Carmel was a safe ritzy place when I was there.

It would seem an indoor kart is neither.

However, the '65 LeMans winning 250LM (or the '79 LeMans winning 935 sitting next to it) at the IMS museum are both.

...and the Mercedes 300SLR. that museum is pretty awesome. LOTS of racing history in there....

The SLR is awesome. My favorites would be J. Clark's lotus and the AJ Foyt display of four Indy cars and two sprint cars. The march/porsche is in the basement right now.

one more thing.....make sure you don't call it "Car-mel" (like normal people do....) around here, it's just "Carmel" (one syllable)
