The 1967 911R was an very early example of what Porsche Racing department were capable of in the way of lightweight performance builds, each of the 22 "R's"was substancially lightened over the standard 911 of the period, the doors, wings/fenders, bonnet and engine lid were all constructed of GRP.The interior was also stripped of all comfort features. It Sported a stripped out dashboard, bare steel floors and a bucket seat. All the windows bar the windscreen were plexiglass, driver and passenger door windows were raised and lowered with a lightweight leather strap as the door internals were stripped to a bare minimum.

The 2 litre engine on the majority of the 911R's was a highly tuned 2.0S engine running twin plug heads with a marelli twin output distributor,twin coils and twin fuel pumps

A 100 litre fuel tank was fitted with a center of the bonnet fill. The oil tank was made of aluminum and mounted ahead of the right rear wheel.

The result of these efforts to reduce the weight held the weight to 1830 lbs

Each of them was a bit different from the other.

I always understood that 20 production cars (11899001-11899020) were made while there were four prototypes.

My records show 800 kg (1760 lbs.).

In 1968, Porsche used the rule book to homologate the car into Group 3. They took a 911T (hence the T/R) off the line and lightened the body even more. Some had the 2.0L from the 906 with many of the tricks of the 911R. The weight was 2030 lbs.

There was also a few lightweight 1968 911L's made for Group 2 (3880001-3880028).

I am not aware of a lightweight 1969 car although Peter Gregg and Hurley Haywood won their class at WG in their first year together in a 1969 2.2L 911S..

In 1970 Porsche rolled out the Porsche S/T 2.3 lightweight. The most famous of these cars is the Larrousse 2.4L car (9110301127). It was the lightest car yet (at 788 Kg) and the engine put out 245 hp.

Correct. Here's a little secret, look at what happens when I invert the colors on the photo you posted :D I always wanted a yellow car and I always liked the hippie car. A lot of coffee and some experimenting in the computer....

Ouch, I hate that photo. She's getting new graphics on Friday and the transmission is being put together now.
