Ugh, this is my everyday! Now I'm depressed...

Try being unemployed for four months then see if you feel the same way.

My son surprised me with a new lawn tractor....he did not want me having another heart attack cutting the grass. What a good son :-) I am pleased with the tractor but even more so by his kindness.

Celebrated my wifes 50th yesterday; it wasn't as good as skiing Whistler on a gorgeous spring day, but we had all the family around, took in the Canucks game (YaHoo!) and did the cake and candles thing. I just love spending time with the whole family.

Try working everyday and not getting paid; ha. Good thing your wife has a good job ;)

Today was great! I got the IBM ATL/VTS copyexport process fully automated via a couple of REXX programs I wrote. Did our first eject of live production data from the new silo. Other than a couple finger-check related JCL errors, the process worked flawlessly.

3 tapes containing 7TB of data. Amazing.

So after that, I continued with the migration process. Working on HSM backup tapes - Daily(05) through Daily(07) and then the Spill volumes. Tomorrow, ML2 is going to virtual tape, as well as our full volume disaster recovery volumes.

Also had a meeting with the VMWARE folks to setup a plan on how to resolve the out of sync condition between the sVC LUN's and the hosts' SCSI ID's.

Also met with IBM to discuss some datacenter consolidation efforts - seems IBM is putting a good word in for me - suggesting that I be the key person on the storage side. (May mean a promotion)

All in all, it's been a good day. I do get jazzed up when things go as planned - especially with the ATL/VTS stuff. Been working my butt off on that project since January...

PS: If any of the above makes sense to you, then you get your uber-geek points for the day.

Hey - thx for the points!!

Now how about some 1970s CDC jargon?

Scenery is nice and all, but looks too cold to me. I hate the cold anymore.

I spent a good chunk of the day in bed with the girl from the other thread last week.

I'm willing to bet i had just as good a time. :)

slodave 04-22-2009 07:34 PM

I'm ready to kill someone.

m21sniper 04-22-2009 07:55 PM

What's amiss dave?

Our VTS is only a B10 so we dont do export. However ML2 goes to jags (3592's). IBM recomended we not try to put ML2 or TMM into the VTS.

Guess it made sense to me SmileWavy

Overall, I just need a vacation. That happens at the end of June.

Today, it was a relative of a client that has called a few times with small computer issues. She called me at 8:45 on a Friday night a while back and kept me on the phone for 45 minutes. Anyway, she had called Monday and we decided that she would bring her laptop by my place later this week - I mentioned the rough location of where I was.

She calls this afternoon and tells me that she is around the corner and wants to drop the laptop off. Come on! How about calling in advance to see if I'm around. I already had other thins to do.

The big thing is with my late afternoon rollerblading. I am tired of having to leave the pavement for idiots that have earphones on and too loud, especially when they are walking their dog and the leash becomes a trip line. I pulled a few muscles (not bad) on Monday because of two idiots and tonight, some older guy and his dog got me. I actually shoved him to my left as I went into the dirt on the right. 14 mph to 1 mph and into a small tree. He just looked at me and shook his head. I do say in a loud voice "on your left" or "on your right" as I come up on people.

Seeing Dottore's pix don't help either.

OK, I'm done for tonight.

m21sniper 04-22-2009 08:56 PM

You should have told the chick with the laptop you were currently in another state. LOL

I still maintain my day was probably even better than dottores. Better view too. ;)

My fun starts on Saturday when my wife will drive me to Flagstaff to pick up my new bike (BMW R1200S) and I will ride it home on Rt. 89A through Sedona, Jerome and Prescott. That will be some gorgeous scenery.

Sorry to hear that. I've always enjoyed your posts about your specialty work, the trials and tribulations, all them seemed to include a mention of your wife. Hope things work out for you.
