Ukiah - Calif.

have a potential trip to Ukiah and environs N. of there coming up

We won't be in the 911 - either a Westphalia or a Volvo wagon. that does not mean I cannot file away sports car roads for future use (I already did that with the other thread on here, but new ones will not be spurned).

I'm looking for short hikes or walks (the dog has a leg injury so can't leave here alone for too long), camping spots, cheap eats, and any interesting things to do or visit.

I will be the accessory to an Art Therapist - she is going to a meeting seminar there if she can get enuff time off. ---> So, I can hit some things (car museum??) during the day, that might not be of overwhelming interest to a - um, how do I put this? - a female arts type person....

Thx!

ukiah is good for gas & groceries and thats about it..... great wine just south of there, sears point raceway about 1.5 hours south. clear lake and indian casinos to the east, and an hour away on hwy 20 to potter valley and 15 miles on a dirt road theres lake pillsbury. thats why i stop in ukiah at leat 4 or 5 times a year headed to a family cabin.

your best bet is to head west to the coast, bodega bay is due west of there.

its beautiful there, just not much happening.

I go to Ukiah every 4 weeks or so but I don't stay very long. I visit my customer (Ukiah Valley Med Ctr) then I'm outta there. About the only advice I can give you is to slow down once you come down the hill on Hwy 101 from the south as you get near Ukiah. CHPs love to catch speeders going downhill.

Besides that, they have a Starbucks, a strip mall, a couple of car dealerships and a CHP station. Oh yeah, it's OK to get sick in Ukiah as the hospital is pretty good. It isn't one of those hospitals you drive by to get to an ER. They have a helipad in case your injury is more severe.

This is why the Westy is your weapon of choice(choich?)good for doing scouting, those mountains are not too high, but she will be running short of wind, be patient..

Northern Cali is second only to Tahoe for me. Ukiah on the way to a lot of places to which I would like to go, from where I happen to be
