Wheeler Dealers

Does anyone watch this show?

It's from England and its on the Discovery Home Theater channel here in the us.

I really like that Edd guy (the mechanic). They have done a 928, and apparently a 944 Turbo is coming up.

It's not a heavy show, but light mechanical tweaking and polishing tweaks that allow them to sell the cars after they fix them.

Anyway, just curious if there were any fans....

I totally enjoy that show. I thought the 325i Touring and MGB-GT episodes were good. Cracks me up how they'll be into something say 2,700 pounds and list it for 2,995 and take 2,800, even with Edd into it for 40 hours. I guess they make the show for entertainment value vs realistic profit margins. Hard to believe a '79 928 only needed brake calipers and a headlight switch, mechanically. Gotta laugh when I see Edd repairing rust and painting it afterwards with a spray can. Likable guys and fun show. They have a sister show called "Auto Trader."

Love that show. I first tuned in just a couple of weeks ago for the Miata refurb. Now I DVR the show and watch it when I can. Too bad I missed the MGB-GT refurb. Love those cars.

I love it too. But today I watched a segment on Youtube where they buy an "Americanised" 1974 911S. It is a California car imported to the UK and all they ***** about is the rear bumper guards and "chrome fender trim that the Americans installed" or so to speak. I guess they can't be experts or enthusiasts on every make but the fender trim was factory installed and just he whole "dumb Yanks screw up an nice Euro car vibe" pissed me off. And, I'm Canadian! LOL

I love this show and better yet, so does my wife. For the longest time I was trying to figure out what the heck a Quid vs. a Pound was......Turns out to be the same thing but the guy interchanges them so frequently I was confused.

quid / pound = dollar/ buck

This show would make a great drinking game.

Cracking = drink
Labour of love = drink
mate = drink

I can't think of any more right now.....maybe it was from the drinks!

I thought that meant "to sell"? As in, "My buddy Edd 'ere has got his hands full getting this crackin' car back into good nick so I can shift it and put a few quid in me pocket!"...

It does, but we are talking about phrases they use a lot. When they use one, you have to drink!

Your sentence was good enough for a buzz!

Saw a later episode, and the buy/sell dude, had turned into a fatty...double chin and all..
He wasn't a skinny bloke to begin with, but in that show, he had really let himself go...

LOVE it. Fantastic..er...Crackin' show! Not dodgy at all!

Was laughing pretty good when the wheel guy struggled to keep from laughing out loud when trading the crappy phone dials for a set of BBS.

+1

Love the rattlecan quickie 'fixes.' They never seem to make enough margin on any car to pay for their time, though.
