Most reliable computer components???

I am considering building a desktop (just to say I did it). I was wondering what are the most reliable computer component brands even models if you care to break it down that far. I am only concerned about the big items - motherboard, CPU, hard drive and maybe power supply. The system would be initially ran on XP, maybe Vista eventually. It would be used for general Microsoft Office items, checkbook, lots of internet browsing, 3D cad & possibly mild gaming when my sons get a little older. What would you build? TIA

Garage
www.tigerdirect.com sells barebone kits that you can assemble. I built my first 4 computers from scratch.. now I just buy off the rack, then add ram and a better video card.
