What make & model video camera for in-car use?

What make & model video camera should I buy if I want to mount it in my 911 to video tape my track days, or does it not matter and any video camera will do?

I like the JVC mini DV cams. You can get them for around $200 now.
They seem to last pretty well with all of the in-car vibration.
I'm on my second cam in 5 years.

All of my vids on my YouTube channel are from Mini DV.

If you can still find one with a remote control, it's even better because you can start/stop while buckled in.

Tape based will be more reliable than a Hard Drive camera out of the box.

Hard Drive cameras need to be dampened, excess vibration from the car can cause the camera to go into a protective mode which shuts down the hard drive.

If money is no object I love the Chase Cam product line.

Randy Chase is a class act too. I had a problem with a 2 year old unit and he replaced it free.

These record onto memory cards and are not affected by vibration. The cameras are so small they do not shake in the car and they can be mounted anywhere.

I have put one on my helmet to see where I was looking during a session. I also put one on my frotn bumper for a very dramatic affect and look at the track.

The ChaseCam is a little too pricey for me, plus I would like to use the camera for other things as well...
