This post is just for laughs and a slight dig at Denis... both cars are very worthy and would be a blast to drive.

IMO, Denis' car was a great deal and will provide many an enjoyable street and/or track mile.

No offense to 914 owners, but i'd much rather have Dennis' old 996.

+1

so would most people - denis' ride sold in a few days (for good reason) whereas that 914 has been marketed for a while all over the place - no sale.

Heh heh. I've always liked the 914, but if I was in a position to choose, I'd pick Denis' car, too. Rough-around-the-edges is no big deal to me.

Porsche-O-Phile 05-05-2009 01:29 PM

Denis was only asking $14.5 for his 996?

Yep

"Price dropped to $14.5 w/ new Pilot Sports on hollow turbo rims and new brakes. Clutch 15k miles ago. This is the most Porsche for the $$ on the planet:"

Wow, someone got a good deal. Then again, I've heard about how he drives... ;)

gtc 05-05-2009 02:45 PM

I'd take this over the 996:

Saying you'll take that 914 over the 996 is like saying you'll take a dog over a cat. Neither compare.

The problem with that car is that as a track beast it would never be competitive in it's class. Too prepped to run in anything reasonable and way too slow to run where it likely would be placed.

I hate when that happens...

If the buyer is on the East Coast, my offer to drive it back gratis still stands.

Me love to drive long time.

I have references, but my references do not.

trekkor 05-05-2009 04:36 PM

I'll definitely be riding in it on the track. That much I do know.

+6 or whatever it is up to....

trekkor 05-05-2009 05:01 PM

It'll be fun to see how long it takes for the new owner to catch me on the track...
