Windows Outlook Question

Running on Vista

I have a problem where I'm trying to send emails with photo attachments.

I have a couple sitting in my outbox one of about 11mb and another of about 5mb and they wont shift!

Won't send, can't delete them and now it won't even send tiny emails of a few kb as they appear to be backed up behind the big ones.....

Is there something in the settings i can change that will allow these big emails to send?

Hitting send/receive just results in a meassage at the bottom of the screen saying 'preparing to send/receive'

Any assistance greatly appreciated!

It won't let you delete them? I have had a few buggy things happen running Outlook in Vista as well. Have you attempted the tried-and-true shutdown and restart? That might at least get you where you can delete the messages with large attachments so that you can send & receive your other mail.

As for the attachment issue, it could be a size barrier in your Outlook settings, or in your security software, or at your email server. I just ran into this last week trying to send a very large attachment which I was able to send, but which the recipient never got - because the file size was beyond the size that her email provider allowed.

Reboot the computer first off.

What version of Outlook? What protocol are you using to send? <---if your not sure on that one, who provides the mail service? Your company, a web hosting company, your ISP, etc.....?

No good on the reboot, the outbox still holds the blocked emails.

Outlook version - Clicking on properties just tells me Microsoft Office Outlook. Was purchased in late '08 if that helps?

Windows Firewall is off. Norton Security is installed, Microsoft automatic scan is off.

Mail service is through my ISP

Thanks guys

Try this:

http://thetechieguy.wordpress.com/2008/05/13/email-is-stuck-outlook-2007-fix/

Quote:
1.Firstly, Open Outlook 2007, Click on File menu and Select Work Offline. This stops outlook from trying to send anything.

2. Open the Outbox folder and now you can either simply Delete the message or you can drag the message out of the Outbox and drop it into your Drafts Folder (or any other folder).

3. Click on File and deselect Work Offline (this will now put Outlook into Online mode again to receive and send messages again)

4. If you moved your email to the Drafts folder, you will then need to go to that folder, open that email, and then press the Send button again.
