Hello Porsche Folks,
I'm posting here so all the Porsche Folks don't hang me. As you Folks know, I own Clown College 3.2, that's a 76 Targa with 87 Carrera Engine. Any way, I just put a new timing belt on my 2004 PD VW Jetta Wagon. The PD engine is different than the other TDI'S I've done in the past. The injection is done by a common rail where it is injected by a electronic valve then compressed by a large cam before it is injected. Very cool design. My problem is you have to remove the passengers motor mount to get to the timing belt. Well the lower mount will not go back in, not enough clearance. WTF, it came out almost by it's self. I've checked out the Bently, and it's of no help. I've removed almost every thing I can, but still can't get clearance. I even removed the timing belt again and could get the mount to go in, but then you can't get to the belt tensioner to put the belt back on. Have any of you Guys encountered this problem. The damn Cockers are of no help. Regards p930man ![]() ![]() I know this is not the Jetta |

Do you have a jack under the engine for support? Usually you need to raise or lower the engine to align the mount again.

Yes I'm using a floor jack. I've put her in every position except with her legs over her head.
I'm just about ready to drop the hole motor. This should not be this hard. And no, I've not been drinking copious amounts of beer. WTF |

I have the same problem on my 01. I had to hold my lip just right and raise and lower the engine until I could get it back in.

Did you try posting your question on TDIClub? Can not help otherwise. My TDI is the earlier ALH engine and since my employer pays for service on it, I never work on it.
