is this Dodge a decent truck/deal?

I'm still looking for a pickup to be a spare vehicle and to tow a car trailer eventually. Found a 2002 Dodge 1500 SLT 4 door with 6.5 foot bed and 4.7 V8. Truck has 80,250 miles with factory tow package and all the power options. Looks good and drove good. Price is $7495.00 from a car lot. No warranty sold as is. Thoughts?

4.7 is just barely powerful enough to tow. If possible, step up to a larger motor in Dodge, GM, Nissan, or Ford. There are a lot of used trucks out there.

Go drive one with a Hemi. You won't want a 4.7 anymore.

from the mopar forum:

the 4.7 has about the same usable power as the 5.7. if you drive one of each without knowing which engine it had you wouldn't be able to tell. the 4.7 makes all its torque low in the powerband where it is usable on the street. the 5.7 makes its power at high rpm where a street car does not need it. the 4.7 will get you better mileage. the 4.7 has less "normal" internal engine noise and overall have had less problems than the 5.7's.

This may be valid when empty, but think about towing and it's a different answer.

BS. Go drive both and report back. The 4.7 feels like a dog, the Hemi has more than adequate power. When I was looking for a truck, a Hemi is the only Dodge I would have considered.
