Any advice on where to stay near Yellowstone in late July?
We're seeing prices quoted of $180/night for Super 8 Motel... it only goes up from there. Are there any better options?

I'd stay right at the lodge, I think the rooms without bathrooms were around 100 or so a night, and the newer section with in room plumbing was around 250. Wake up in the am, and you are right there in the middle of the park. Beautiful old building as well, very rustic. You will probablly have too book quite a few months ahead of time. We reserved for 3 days, months ahead of time, but were able to stay a couple of extra nights , so rooms do come available. Best of luck .

I've been there at least 15 times, motorycle, snowmobile and car. The worst place you can stay is the Super 8 in West Yellowstone. It's 10 miles west of town all by itself with a little resturant next door. Nothing to do, nothing to see there.....
Having said that, West Yellowstone is the only town close to an entrance to the park. It has many hotels, both chain and independent. I've stayed at the Stage Coach, Holiday Inn and others. A quick search show a BW right in town for $71/nite.....I'd suggest a google search and: http://www.trails.com/all-hotels/city-hotel.aspx?dest=MT+West+Yellowstone I wouldn't stay in Cody, Jackson Hole or Livingston, all a ways from the park, book solid and expensive also..........

I spent 2 weeks in walk-in campground 3x
I always impressed by how many climbers I meet there from all over the world

Old Faithful inn. That's where I stay when I go to jellystone, not that expensive and very convenient. (except for the food, it's expensive. And the service kinda sucks).

Old Faithful Inn is breathtaking to behold but I've never stayed (only walked around it). I always camp. Hotels are plain cheating in my book...

If you don't want to stay in Jackson and drive up early in the a.m., try the Grand Targhee Resort in Alta. It's on the other side of the Tetons and you can access Yellowstone from the west entrance. Much cheaper and off the beaton path. We're staying in the park for 3 nights and then heading to Alta for a few before we head down to the Desert Pearl Inn near Bryce Canyon.
Just a side note, if you are traveling during the week, you shouldn't have a problem finding a room in Jackson. Plenty of mom and pops that don't advertise like the major chains.

We spent a week in Jackson/Yellowstone last year. We stayed at Teton Mountian Lodge & Spa and it was fantastic.

We're heading to Yellowstone this June also to meet-up w/ Porsche friends who will already be there.
We're staying in Grants Village. We do not have a lot of time there but hope to see as much as we can. We also plan to drive down to the Tetons for a hike. Then roadtrip back to MN w/ our friends. We can't wait. It will be an adventure!! Have a great time on your trip. ![]()

Have you been to Grant's Village before. It slipped my mind, but it is quite nice too!

great picture. glad to hear grants village is also nice. we picked it b/c it seemed centrally located for our east entrance, seeing Old faithful, & getting south to the Teton's. it will be the farthest the 930 has ever been driven. we'll see so many things we've never seen before. can't wait!
