Tapered off? Where?
I was in Wally world last week, no ammo, 2 weeks ago, no ammo. Went to local rip off gun shop for some S&W .40 and they wanted north of $1 a round. I walked out. I went to Bass Pro in Savannah on my way to FastPats to try to score some .40 and they had 2 boxes of bulk 180 grain (too harsh for the range) at a decent price. They were picked clean. Its not over...... :( |
Point me to some bulk, new mfg. .223 under $.50 @, please. .308's been 'all gone' for months around here.
It ain't over by a long shot. |

I'm loving the Browning Match 150, nkown in the States as a Browning Medalist :) |
I use the Federal FMJ 550 bulk .22LR for my Ruger Mark II. It's cheap (I paid $8 a box 2 years ago, last time I saw it in stock it was $15 a box), and it doesn't fail to fire like the cheap Remington stuff.
|
I like CCI, both Mini Mag and Std Velocity cycle the Browning no problem. I've also used Aguila sub sonic, high velocity, various Federal and Remington. Everything except the Remington seems fine. CCI has the least FTF.

Brown bear $199 for 500 rounds. Not great, but better than nothing. |
I am indebted to you, Red, sir.

The place where I made my observation has pallets of .223 on the floor...Brown Bear, Wolf and some of brands I didn't recognize. During a weekday visit to get some oil, the local Farm and Fleet had 2000 rounds of Winchester 5.56 for $475/1000 rounds. They also had a bunch of econo pack Remington UMC. I think I was there on a good day...the following weekend while getting some yard waste bags...they were gone.
Dicks Sporting goods has .223 around here. And Walmart. They get shipments in every week...so do the other sporting stores, but everyone is out hunting for ammo, so they go quick. Doesn't meant they aren't being delivered to the stores if you don't see it. I think it depends on the market whether one sees a decline in demand, but it may be declining in general. You can pick up 1000 rds of ammo on Gunbroker for reasonable (today's prices) prices. 1000 rds for $350-450. Sure that's not 2005 prices, but it's out there if you look....at least in my area. |
Well, what ever is in short supply now will be plentiful in a few or several months. Just like AR15s were unobtanium for several months and now are on the shelves again.
|
And Souk, too I thank.
I think there's more ammo being turned over just outside The Big Cities. More in, more out like there's no tomorrow. Maybe they know something I don't. No real shortages here but the price 'ain't comin' down' so to speak. |

PPKS was a later gun, and a .380. |
And they all jam a lot more than my trusty Beretta.

and since you live in arizona and its getting hot as hell again..............you should rethink this instead of concealing some large caliber monster in a pair of shorts and letting the world know you are carrying by PRINTING! people get REAL FREAKY ABOUT SEEING GUNS, unless of course its the NRA convention. one phone call from some lil old lady "theres a man with a gun!" can land you in some very fast hot water if not worse!!!!! and believe me there are a LOT of freakazoid antigun moron retirees here from non gun east coast states. think about mouse gun flavors: i have (4) flavors to choose from. .380,.32,.25,.22 all with my HK4's(2). i choose .380 for its ballistics. and then i have a walther ppk/s(1) in .380 also. perfect for shorts and a teeshirt and flip flops going to aj's/safeway/circle k kind of runs. |

I don't think either is pointless. Both are extremely popular for small easily concealable pistols. |
