Looks like you still need a capture device of some sort, either IR, Bluetooth or USB.

My problem is my DVR only has RF (Coax) out. I bought a cheap ($60) TV Tuner card, it came with DVR software.

I just hit play on the DVR and record on the PC, and I end up with an MPEG file I can do whatever I want with.

I don't have a tuner card, but my cable box has both USB and ethernet ports on it.

you CAN go from the DVR to a DVD burner.
That's the method i prefer, you can then watch the DVD on the PC or on the TV.
But having it directly on the PC could also be nice

Would love to move stuff off my Comcast DVR to a PC or DVD.
Do you have to do some hacking on the DVR? My understanding is that while unit has the usb port, it is disabled by Comcast.

I transferred a bunch of stuff off my Dish DVR to PC and then DVD.

Your PC needs to have a tv tuner. The tuner picks up the show and records it just like your DVR. Basically you turn your PC into another DVR, hit play on one unit and record on the other and it records in real time. I then used Windows Movie Maker to edit the shows, convert into a favorable format for DVD playing on a DVD player and burned.

no hacking required, just run the DVR output to the DVD input
Yes the usb does not work, they say it's for a future feature
