Funniest scam.

I promiss you this is the funniest thing.
This is a LOCAL craigslist ad: http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/ctd/1188438614.html
And the below is an email I received after request the contact info. Remember I said LOCAL.

Hello and thanks for your interest in my 2007 Toyota Sienna. The vehicle is located in Temecula, CA and it has recorded 46,544 miles. It’s in excellent plus overall condition, very clean in and out and well kept. I have a clear TITLE IN HAND, no liens or loans and it has an accident free history. Drives, Looks and Runs Great. The selling price of $3,900 is FIRM and includes the shipping to your home. I will not require the money upfront because you haven't seen/test driven the vehicle yet. I’ve secured my sale through eBay, who acts as a legitimate 3rd party and who provides protection for buyers of up to $50,000 from which you will be 100% refunded. After the transaction is started, you are invited to deposit the amount of $3,900 with eBay and I am invited to send you the vehicle for a 7 days inspection period during which you need to decide whether to accept it or not. During all this time eBay holds and insures your money until receipt of the vehicle in good condition. If by any reason the vehicle is not as described or if you find any problems with it, I will arrange to ship it back on my costs and you’ll be fully refunded. I'm sure it won't be the case because it's a state of art looking and working vehicle. The vehicle will be delivered to your home address in 3 days since your payment proof has been sent and confirmed by eBay. I trust this will meet with your approval as it does not expose you to any potential financial loss.

Yeah, it seems like nobody wants Siennas these days. I picked one up last week from that same guy for $4,250. I can hardly wait for delivery!

The escrow account scams are plentiful.

I believe that one in Kansas is www.onewhippedpuppyescrow.com and specializes in Jags.

Tell me how someone can invoke eBay in this scam. Doesn't eBay have a legitimate escrow?

I'd like to see a way to reverse the scam to the scammer. Anything over state lines brings in the FBI. I'm sure some of you IT guys could find these posters fairly quickly.

Not difficult at all. The scammer relies on you clicking on his provided link. It sends you to a mirrored eBay escrow site that he and his buddies built.

the funny thing I was talking about is that they posted it local and want the transaction through ebay. Can you think of any reason to make it logical?
