Wife went to Chicago so I bought a car

Been looking at these and got this one this weekend, she got back yesterday and is kind of iffy about it. May or may not keep it but it is fun so far. 88 Carat Wolfsburg. Auto

Nice!

I always liked those, but I believe your house may be faster 0-60.

Awesome! My dad had one of those when I was a kid, it was yellow so we called it the bus. It had a diesel, so acceleration was glacial.

Yes, she's back, kinda sorta likes it,

I always liked those, but I believe your house may be faster 0-60.

A couple weeks ago during the earthquake, yes it was

wow! love it!

is she making you sleep in it?

Not yet bu I offered something like that when she got home yesterday, she declined.

a vanagaon tune up consists of the following:
cap
rotor
wires
and a headset

I was going to do that but it passed smog this morning so I am just going to change oil and filters

We will see how this thing works out, I don't think she will drive it.

There was a Wheeler-Dealer episode on HD-Theature that revitalized one of those - turned a basic Vanagon (T3 transporter - cargo van) into a mini camper. Lemme see if it's available on YouTube...

Yep - here it is: (Note- it starts with an older Type 2 history lesson)

Part 1:

Part 2:

Part 3:

Part 4:

Part 5:

Maybe you can turn that Vanagon into your own "passon wagon" with a crackin' motor! I would just ease up on the vinyl wrapping....

Fun choice...I would heed the fuel line advice...especially if your area sells gasahol.
For sure, no 0-60 in under 6 seconds, but you will be able to haul a lot of people and stuff.

I will check the fuel lines tomorrow, whats the deal with them, been working on it all day. I don't think they use gasahol around here.
She drives a T Bird and I drive the 911 so we needed something else.
when I got it I was thinking I could put a Subaru in it and sell the 911. THAT ISN'T GOING TO HAPPEN.

Nice looking ride. Seems to be in really good shape, and well taken care of. How many miles?

Don't take offense, but we used to make a joke that your knees were the 5 mph bumpers.

Everything looks good in pictures, the oddometer stopped somewhere/sometime at 140k.
It seems pretty fast, I think it will do 5mph in 60 seconds.
If I keep it, it is a candidate for a Subaru.

The deal with the fuel lines is that they may be 20 years old. They split and leak right over the exhaust pipe. Vanagon fires are all too common.

As for safety, vanagons are surprisingly safe in a crash.

And as for the Suburu engine, many people swear by them. Me, I embrace the slowness. When I want fast, I hop in the 911.

Check out the vanagon forum on www.thesamba.com. Introduce yourself over there with the same pics, and you'll soon have a whole new circle of friends. You'll be needing their advice on maintenance, anyway.
