Any Pelicans near Long Beach tonight?
Am flying the boss into Long Beach tonight, landing in the late afternoon and departing about 11 PM. Wanted LAX, BUR or VNY but frigging Obama and the flight restrictions ended that!
Anyway any Pelicans in the airport area interested in getting together? Am "on duty" so cannot drink but glad to meet anywhere and watch you guys get happy. We do not get to SoCal that often so sorry for the late notice but thought I would put it up and see if anyone is interested.

Unfortunately I can't make it tonight. You and I gotta meet one of these days during my travels. I'm in Toronto next week.

I might be able to get down to LB, though if I go to class it wouldn't be until after 9pm. Do you roll out at 11pm or earlier?

Todd,
Not sure right now on departure time. Will give you a hint... it will be after the Lakers game ends and then the 30 minute drive from the stadium. Stop on by and will give you a tour of the jet if you are late. Hugh, damm, would love to meet you but it will happen someday! Joe

Scott,
Am in the 604 tonight. Would love to show you the avionics on the 605, they are simply the best out there in the air. Just had a slight schedule change and we are now heading out of here at 3 PM and should land around 4 or so in LGB. I hear that the game ends around 9 pm so will have to be back at the jet by 8 pm or so. We are going into http://www.airflight.com which I believe is right off of the 405. No idea of anyplace to meet or have a bite in the area but sure you guys know of someplace. Joe

Too bad I am not working today. I could have been the controller to clear you to land. For those of you unfamiliar to get to airflight, take the 405 to cherry, head north turn right on wardlow and look for the signs.

AirFlite is located off the extension of Wardlow Road at Cherry Ave. It's not that user friendly from the outside. There is a guard shack before the parking lot. One of you is going to have to get inside to pick ol' Joe up and go wherever.
Nice bar at Da Vinci which Joe could probably walk to. $$$ |

We cheated death again and made it to Long Beach. Am at AirFlight.
If anyone wants to get together let me know. Will be here until the game ends but need to be back here by 45 before end of the game. Do not have wheels but can walk or taxi it if there is something close. Joe 602 418 5642 cell

Its after 6 and the game has started. Sorry for the last minute notice and assume everyone is busy or already had plans. (really, I did take a shower in the last weeks)
Going to just hang out here and watch the game unless I hear from someone but now its looking like we will be heading back out fairly early. Joe

Sorry Joe, have to take a raincheck. I'm just back in the office after a site visit and have a few more hours of work ahead of me before I can come up for air.
Safe travels - ping when you're in LA again. |

I drove by Da Vinci's and drove over to the gate at AirFlite, didn't see any 911's or even a 951 on fire
, so I left. Joe, the guys around here are all mouth , you didn't want to be bothered anyway.I saw your plane, now that's a freaking hot rod (I think). |

Milt,
No one here by 6:30 so I headed to the Subway and got the "deluxe meal" and returned to AirFlight and am watching the game. As its going right now its been more or less tied ever few minutes. Yep, the bird is a nice one. Its the one right by the main door on the ramp. Todd, This was real short notice so next time will try to do better. If the game tonight does not settle things then we may be back for the next game here in town and will give you guys a better heads up. Joe

Joe, unfortunately more notice wouldn't have helped in my case right now - just bad timing. I've got multiple deadlines over the next 48 hours so I'm in full sprint. I was hoping to try and ride down to LB for a quick soda but I've got to get a rewrite hammered out by midnight and am so distracted getting on the bike is a bad idea. Definitely ping when you're back in town.

Yea I headed that way but my 911 caught fire this time... Yuk, yuk.
![]() I just got home (daily ratrace/runaround) and would love to meet up although I know it's halftime already and it's probably too short notice. I'll PM ya my cell # if you want though - I can be over there in about 15-20 minutes.

Met with Jeff at the FBO but our pax arrived 20 minutes early and were already onboard when he got there so could not give him a tour of the bird.
Good to meet you and will give more notice next time. Todd, make lots of money so you can slow down! ![]() Joe A

Please schedule in advance, so that the Pres. can't shut things down. Would've been nice to see you at VNY. I could not fly my glider either...
