Stupid response to CL ad.

I have my motorcycle posted on craigslist (http://rmn.craigslist.org/mcy/1201200368.html) and just got the following e-mail:

"That sounds pretty interesting to me i will have to think about it for a little while thank you"

That was the entire response. No name, no contact.

I'm thinking, great! I am so glad to hear my bike sounds interesting... Maybe you could let me know when you've thought about it a little bit and are actually interested???

Send a message via AIM to Gogar
It's spam. If you reply to it with your regular email, you'll get a ton of Viagra ads, etc in return.

I do CL rather than eBay, but the people who respond are 10 times as flaky. So much so that whenever I make a deal, the buyer and I laugh a bit about how bad it is.

I say say this about eBay, mostly you put your money where your mouth is.

+1

I have ads on craigslist pretty much every day. Most all my ads state "IF YOU'RE READING THIS, YES IT IS STILL AVAILABLE. THANK YOU. "

I had to add that because almost with fail, the first reply is, "Hello, I'm very interested in your item. Is it still for sale?" Notice "item" very generic and if I reply, it brings back either scam or spam, never a buyer. Sometimes they are specific to what I'm selling, but it still brings scammers. So now I ignore/delete every query regarding if the item is still for sale.

I expect the potential buyers phone number or email address on the first contact because that line also speeds up the process for legitimate buyers.

Need to use a 3rd party photo host like Flickr or Picasa. Then copy the HTML for that photo into the body of the ad. Makes it easier to repost also as you don't need to keep uploading photos.
