woohoo - Steely Dan ticket purchase complete

Amex presale at 1000pst today. Got ticket for Gibson Amphitheater shows on 21aug and 24aug. They are doing something different this tour - certain nights they are going to do an entire album along with selected other songs, and they also have "internet request" nights were people vote on the setlist. I got tickets up close for "Aja" night, and up in mezzanine dead center for "Royal Scam" night. Taking the boy, as he's now adding Steely Dan songs to Beatles tunes (along with a little Vince Guaraldi and Beethoven) to his piano repertoire.

In fact, here he is from last night doing his first live gig. He was backing up poetry readings, and then providing background music and sfx for a student play. All improvised, and it was the first time he'd ever played with the guitar player. He rocks...

Just heard an ad for their shows here in Chi-town last night--I think they're playing 4 shows. Sounds cool. Nice pic of the boy.

Same deal in Chicago - 4 nights: Aja, Gaucho, Royal Scam, internet set. If you at all like Steely Dan and have never seen them live, I highly suggest catching a show. The touring band is downright amazing, and the drummer, Keith Carlock, is among the best to ever sit behind a kit.
