Angry Wife getting automated messages from a school

My wife has been getting automated messages on her cell from a school in another County. We have both contacted the school and they say there is nothing they can do as the students name is not mentioned. The messages tell of PTA meetings, etc. Is there some way to block the calls?

Call the school and remind them that it is a Federal Law that they remove you from their call list upon your request. http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=federal+do++not+call+law&fr=yfp-t-106&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8

I recently had an auto auction calling me with automated messages 2-3 times a day. It took several calls to them but I finally was able to get them to stop.

You can usually program a custom ringer for specific numbers on cell phones. So create a no-sound ringer, and set it to that number.

But I agree with Sonic. Their problem, they need to fix it.

I get these, too. I have no idea where it came from, who they are or what. I did change numbers a while back and assumed it was the former person who may have had that number.

The only reason I don't get calls any longer from the auto warranty people is that the feds busted them. Otherwise, good luck getting removed from any calls from offshore.

Guys, think outside the box.

You call the school, and tell them that your wife's phone number is for an FBI field office, and that any further calls will result in federal charges.

Told the wife that I would start attending the PTA's. That would fix the problem.

Send them a looped email. Tell them to do something or everytime you get the phone call you will notify the school via email.

Also, you can get a writ, pro-per and have them stop this crap.

Nah, no threats. Thought about contacting the local newspaper though.

Text messages or voice messages? If text messages, reply with the word STOP.

Does this really work or is it an "Internet Legend"?

If the text is originated from what is known as a "short code" (a 4 or 5 digit number), then STOP functionality MUST be supported (short codes are tightly controlled by the carriers, and services are audited). If STOP is not supported, the sender will loose their short code (putting them out of business, depending on their business model).

If it is coming over email (sent to you as xxxxxxxxxx@vtext.com or similar), then there are fewer controls over this (but volume of messages that can be sent from any one originator to mobile phones via email is pretty limited).

I work in this area, so with the above caveats, this is not an internet legend.
