A maximum-security holding center for violent sex offenders has opened in Nottoway County.

The state opened the $62 million Virginia Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation on Tuesday, and about 60 residents are expected to move in by the end of the week. They have been housed at a temporary facility near Petersburg for the past few years.

The center eventually will hold as many as 300 sexually violent people whose prison terms have ended, but whom courts have determined in civil-commitment proceedings to be a public-safety risk to release. The residents will undergo psychological and social treatment programs.

The center's first phase opened Wednesday. Construction of the second phase, which includes the center's remaining 200 beds, is expected to be completed by September 1.

meaningless. california doesn't require an address before paroling sex offenders. half the homeless guys wandering around have a record for something sick. and they don't show up n any map.

Local Toledo news has been covering the Neveah story every night. My wife and I have been dumbfounded by the dirtbag friends/family/neighbors being interviewed nightly. I never realized how much white trash is living just up the road in Monroe Michigan. Too bad kids have to be born into such situations.

Yep, the "My Name is Earl" crowd is interviewed every night and my only surprise is that the young girl lived as long as she did considering her mother is a felon/addict/trash and associates with other of the same ilk. Very sad...
