I'm in a quandry. My wife is in West Palm for a family wedding and we've arranged an early flight out tomorrow a.m. The kids are at their paternal grandmother's with friends and other family members.

We're very close but I don't think it would be appropriate for me to show up right now in the middle of their bio family even tho we have no problems? I want to comfort them but....

Any thouights?

Sketchy as he lives in CA and we're in MS...just know it was a motorcycle accident. He had a Harley Glide and a Yamaha Sport bike but we don't know which he was riding...he was in the canyons around Ventura apparently.

Yikes. I was in the Santa Monica Mtn canyons late AM.

As for "being there," I'd say make the offer but respect their answer. Just showing up might not be the best thing.

Yes, and not showing could be just as bad.

Talk it through, let them all know you are supportive.

Sorry to hear this, Jim.

Sorry for this bad news.

Your support should be for your wife and the kid's. What do they need from you at this time? It is no about getting "in the middle" and its not about intruding, its about them knowing you are there to support them in whatever form that takes. They should not have to ask.

My condolences. What a drag.

If it was me, I'd hang back, let the family grieve, if they want you there they will let you know.

Godspeed to the departed.

Sorry to hear about this.

I know you're very close to your step kids. Can you call them and ask them what they want you to do? I'd respect their wishes either way. If they decide they want you to hang back, let them know that if they change their minds to call you and you will be there.

From personal experience, I appreciate it more when people show up for family, no matter the circumstances.
