What is the longest lasting wax you'd put on your daily driver?

I need to wax my Dodge truck and am looking for a super long lasting wax or similar product I only have to do once/year. I've heard Nu Finish lasts forever. Any experience out there with super long lasting products?

Wax is not a long-lasting product- you're lucky to get 2 months out of it. You need a synthetic.

Nu Finish is a synthetic polish. No wax.

Have heard good things about it.

nu finish over the long run will haze the clearcoat, be careful. It also stains everything other than paint - totally a PITA to remove off of black trim.

Try Meguiars NXT. Very durable and easy to use.

Nu Finish just isn't that great of a product because of how difficult it is to remove from cracks.

I like Zaino because of how clear it dries- keeps your cracks clean.

If you're looking for long lasting wax, then chances are spending time washing your car/truck by hand isn't a priority either? I ask because car wash detergents by their nature have to be very strong. They will remove any wax in a relatively short time.

I have a black '02 Ram Quadcab 4x4 (huge) and I use the car wash every third or fourth time I wash it, otherwise I wash it by hand and frankly, it takes a looong time. I wax at least one panel of it every time I wash it. Hope this suggestion helps.

Remember, wax is only secondarily important to make your car look good. Primarily, it is a sacrificial coating. If you don't let the UV have wax to eat its gonna eat your paint. Granted newer paints keep their shine longer but you are asking for a recommendation on how to spend less time on your vehicle from a website where guys spend MORE time on their vehicles. By the way, I use Meguires. But have also had good luck with straight Mothers carnuba...but I wax kinda often. Dan

No--waxing and washing my truck is not a priority relative to my 911 which I am very particular about. I usually drive my truck through a full service car wash (machine clean, hand dry, vacuuum). The truck is too big to do by hand I just don't want to spend the time on it that I will spend on my car. I use the NXT on my car and don't think it lasts that long so I will give the Zaino a try. Thanks.

Second on the Mothers Carnuba.
I have a buddy of mine who still swears by good ol Turtle Wax. To be honest with you , his paint always looks incredible.

Twice a year (spring and fall) I wax my Tahoe with Mc Guiers. A coat of polish then a coat of wax. It takes around 6 hours. It probably lasts around a month.

When I was a kid three doors down the ladys dad was the founder of McGuires...they started up in Pasadena, CA way back in the 20s or 30s. The recipe was a closely held secret. I still believe it is a family run/owned business.

My '84 Celica was 5 years old when I bought it in '89. I drove it for 13 years and it lived in the harsh prairie sun of summer and cold snowy winters of Saskatchewan (north of N Dakota for you guys), no garage. I used good ole Turtle wax on that thing once a year. I always got compliments on how well that car looked.

I recently tried Turtle's new "Ice" wax; I've just used the paste; I have to try the liquid "Ice" and see if that's as good.

It is super-slippery -- I had to remove it from under my magnetic CB antenna base, because the base would just slide across the surface. No other wax I've tried was ever that slippery.

It also seems to be holding up over the past few months better than any other "wax" product I've tried.

It is as advertised; it's easy to apply and does not leave any "white crud" in crevasses it gets into.

The guy is looking for a long-lasting wax and people are suggesting Zymol? I love Zymol, but I wash my car twice a week and wax once a month; Zymol looks fantastic, but it simply doesn't last.

Turtle Wax is a good suggestion, though I haven't tried their new Ice line; TW's plain old paste wax was my "winter" wax for years. Collinite is considered one of the longest lasting last step products around, and it's what I use now to get through the winter. I also like Meguiar's #16 paste wax, but that's no longer made - good shine and it lasts a couple of months or more.

Nu Finish won't last, although it makes my car bright and shiny, beautiful, but won't last. If I drive the car and leave it under the sun all day, it'll last couple days or a week max.
I have the same question though, after Nu Finish, what to put on top to have that shiny last? My buddy swear by carnuba wax. He said it'll last at least 6 months. I have not tried it yet.

So the conslusion for LONG LASTING is ole turtle wax, and my friend said any CARNUBA wax.
Any more comment? anything else?
Thanks.

Mothers 3-step routinely (once every couple of months), Zymol when I've got it on-hand. Klasse occasionally when my neighbor has some (he uses it and lets me help myself to it and his other detailing products in exchange for working on his cars occasionally).

Seems to work pretty well on the Mercedes and the wife's Toyota. I could care less about the paint on the P-cars. The 944 paint looks like complete hell and the 911 is eventually getting repainted anyway, so who cares.
