Information wanted on Irving TX
Our 22 year old is pursuing a first after college job in Irving TX, out on Highpoint Drive. Since it's been so long since I've been in Dallas, I am no help to him on trying to get some current info on Irving. Any Pelicans out there that could give me their impression of life in the Irving area would be very helpful. Thanks all, Glenn

Thanks! Part of our family lived in Ft Worth, but have now all sadly passed on. My cousin Bobby was a pressman for the Star Telegram, and he took us several times to a big lake north of town where he kept his boat, great fun, Pearl Beer and all! Man, it has been a long time though. I will pass on your advice, thanks Glenn

Ft Worth? He needs to go to Uptown in Dallas. Commute wouldn't be too bad from there and lots of restaurants and bars to got to. Only problem is that it is a little pricey there.

If I had to do it again would return to Ft. Worth.
Have lived in Dallas, Grapevine, Flower Mound and Carrollton. Would pick FTW hands down.

Dang, I hod forgotten about Pearl, Pearl Light in particular was like water.
![]() Like a bunch of folks said: Fort Worth! We lived there '79-'90 and is the one place we would go back to in a heartbeat if we got kicked out of here.

Remember the old Lone Star Beer commercials with the giant armadillo?
"Git on the truck, Cooter."

I work in Irving. Good place to work - but he should be careful where he lives. If I was single I would get an apartment in Las Colinas which is a great sub of Irving. Send me a PM and I will hook him up.

Stay north of North gate and east of Story. If he wants to be a stones throw away from work, there's a place called the Marks which is off Story Rd. It has held up well over the years, great place for tang too, but it's aging. Once past HWY 114 on the north side, I'd stay closer to Mac Arthur and go no farther west, unless he's moving into Hackberry creek. The places off of Hidden ridge/meadow creek pkwy are getting over run with hoodlums. East of MacArthur towards Las Colinas pulls a higher rent, and better wool.
Send him down. Let me know if he needs a ride from the airport, look around or what ever.
