North Carolina has some legislation pending to make state health insurance cover aids. I think the cost is under .40 per person a month. This is only for children through 18 YO, but it's a start.

I added my sons aids to our homeowners for about $100 a year.

For those of you that don't wear hearing aids but have people close to that do, give them some room. Hearing aids are like crutches, sure you can get around but you can't walk normal. Hearing aids are just that "aids" not a cure for going deaf and can only make you hear better but not normal. Once your normal hearing starts to go nothing will bring it back.
