Dumb Mistake

I took my two year old fishing yesterday, sounds like a good time right... he fell in the lake with his hearing aids on. So much for not using the S word in front of him.

All was okay though, dad pulled him up got the aids off and opened the battery door. After I dried them out they worked fine.

I guess I am lucky.:D

Okay now tell the truth, he also out fished ya didn't he? :)

I don't see a dumb mistake at all. You:

Took your kid fishing. Good Job. A +++

Accidentally cursed a little, but that's why you go fishing and camping, to get back to your earthy roots. No harm, no foul.

Had a small accident that you will both remember for the rest of your lives.

This falls into the catagory of "Raised my son a little bit today"

Be proud, peppy. I'm proud of you.

I should have been more clear. Dumb=should have removed the aids first.

The fishing part was cool.

He caught a bigger one than you, so you pushed him in hey..lol

Ya think? Every time you go near a boat and you don't want him to experience all that he can? I'll bet he doesn't fall in again.

Milt there was no boat, we were just standing on the edge of the lake.

Exactly!

Don't we all have a memory like this? I do and it's one of the fondest I share with my dear old Dad :D

(Edit: For clarity my memory doesn't involve hearing aids but rather electricity and Dads wedding ring)

Quote the wife: that's what insurance is for. Still a heart stopper when the kids got $3k on his head.
I'm not sure what brand you have but steff's are surprisingly robust considering the abuse they've gotten for the last 4 years.

Phonak Nadia,

Yeah they are tough, glad the FM receivers were not on them

I was 13 the first and only time I heard my dad use the F word. He was installing new kitchen cabinets and raised up and nailed an open cabinet door. Until then, I didn't think he even knew the word. Mom was in ear-shot too. The S word is nothing. LOL!

Swimming lessons next for the kid? Sounds like a fun and exciting Fathers Day for both of you.

I'm sure he's just happy he got to go fishing with his dad. :)

Dad quit cussing around me when I started repeating him at school. Peppy, where did you all go? My wife wants to give it a try. Told her she has to bait the hook and unhook what she catches. Maybe she will fall in too. :D

vash 06-22-2009 06:40 PM

sounds like a great time! my best friend in elementary school had a hearing aide. ( i seem to remember him having a unit hanging from a chain around his neck?)..we destroyed that thing regularly. his dad would feign anger and deal with it. looking back, i think the man was just happy his kid was just being a normal kid.

peppy, again. GREAT TIME. nothing better than fishing with dad.

Dumb question but if you'd have taken his hearing aids out first, couldn't you swear all you want ??SmileWavy

Hey don't feel bad, ,I put my bluetooth headset through the washing machine yesterday.. I wasn't so lucky...

azasadny 06-23-2009 03:24 AM

My wife is getting her 1st hearing aids very soon (bad left ear) and they will cost us $2200 (insurance won't cover any of it) and they are NOT water resistant, so she will have to be careful!

You fixed the aids and went fishing, what kinda great dad are you!!!!

Fishing and fixing stuff, you and your son got a great thing. The two of you are cool, I miss that stuff with my dad, but I never, ever do not use what he taught me. Getting a little wet, well thats cool too. :)

at least until he learns to read lips.

M.D. Holloway 06-23-2009 11:29 AM

you should have gone with the hearing aid upgrade - the ones where you can remotely turn them off right before you launch a volley of exple-bleep-tives!
