When I lived in San Jose, I used a grey gooey product called "SnailBait" from Orchard Supply Hardware. That was a while back, not sure if it s still on the market, but It worked like a charm, on application & bye bye escargot!

well, the beer caught me absolutely nada. i have to go to home dump anyway, so i'll see what they have. that stuff mentioned earlier sounds like a good way to start.

Also Invite some buddies over for some beers... toss the empties in and around your beds... clean up cans the next day and your slug population will be drastically reduced...
