Where should I take my paw for a fishing trip?
I've been hankering to get my 68 year old dad out to Calif with me to do some hangin' out. What I've got in mind is to get a travel trailer set up at a campground in the Sierras at a lake. Lots of trees, decent fishing, good guy spot.
Problem is, I don't know exactly where that is. Anyone have some recommendations? |

Sounds like a great trip. All of the Tom Stienstra books are great.

Lots of good streams and rivers up in Lake Tahoe area. Upper Kern river is nice near Johnsondale. Good camping in both areas. A very nice and remote spot is the West Fork of the Carson River near Markleeville CA. Look for the Kit Carson Campground. It gets hot up there this time of year even at 7000 ft.

If you can afford it come to Canada, we have lakes here that have never been fished, was on a job in the NWT and the cook would do 10 casts per day off the dock, his goal was to catch and release 300 lbs with 10 casts, his record was about 290 and he had 1 cast with no fish.
You want fish - come north |

Two lakes that my late father and I fished before the folks moved back to Mn. It's not always where you go to fish, but who you fish with that makes it great. Special memories from these places 25 years ago.

Anywhere with good weather a decent fishing should work. My dad and I have just as much fun on the days that we only catch one or two.
