FS: 2000 Jaguar XJR - 370 HP Luxury Supersedan

Yup, it's about that time.......

Summary: 2000 Jaguar XJR, 91,000 miles, excellent condition, $11,500 OBO. An awesome car, I can't imagine a better daily driver.

It would be a challenge to find more car for the money than my Jaguar XJR. It is a unique combination of luxury, comfort, and performance. The interior is beautiful, with glove-soft Connolly leather, thick wool carpet, and burlwood trim. Automatic climate control with ice-cold air-conditioning, heated seats and powered front seats, Alpine premium audio with built-in powered subwoofer and 6-CD changer, powered steering wheel tilt and telescope, rain-sensing windshield wipers, moonroof, Homelink integrated garage-door opener, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, keyless entry, steering wheel-mounted buttons for audio and cruise control, and back seat heating/A/C vents make for a comfortable and relaxing ride. The only option available on the XJR is a DVD-based GPS navigation system, which mine is equipped with. On the outside, the XJR has a number of features that distinguish it from a standard XJ. 18” alloy wheels, high-intensity discharge headlights, brushed aluminum mesh grille, chrome dual exhaust, and unique badges insure that it won’t be mistaken for a common XJ but still maintains a subtle and classy appearance. What makes the XJR truly spectacular is the engine. Equipped with a 4.0L supercharged V8, the XJR makes 370 HP and 387 ft-lb of torque at 3600 RPM. Mated to an excellent 5-speed automatic with sport mode, power is instant and everywhere. Despite the ability to go 0-60 in 5.4 seconds, the XJR is always smooth and effortless. The 18” wheels, sticky Michelin Pilot tires, and sport suspension allow for excellent handling without harshness. Designed to compete against the BMW M5, Audi S8, and Mercedes E55 AMG, the XJR is a true luxury super-sedan. It simply does everything well.

My XJR is in excellent condition inside and out. The paint is beautiful with very few rock chips. There is only one noticeable door ding, which is small enough that it will not show up in pictures. The wheels are very nice, with no rash or large scratches. The only exterior flaw of note is a small crack in the windshield under the wiper. It has not spread and is out of the driver’s line of sight, so I never addressed it. The interior is simply beautiful. I’ve owned cars from BMW, Audi, Porsche, Saab, and Mercedes-Benz, all of which now look mediocre after owning this Jaguar. The leather sport seats with perforated inserts are still glove soft, nearly perfect, and some of the most comfortable I’ve ever sat in. The only wear is to the driver’s side outer bolster, common with sport seats. The only flaw is a small seam that has separated on the passenger side, it could be easily re-stiched by an upholstery shop but is very subtle. The wool carpet is thick and plush, with no stains or flaws. Floormats are also like new. No dash cracks or fading and the wood trim has a nice glossy finish. No smoking, no pets, always garage kept. The Alpine premium audio has excellent sound quality. Overall the interior is a very nice place to be, whether you’re driving to work or across the country.

Mechanically my XJR is in excellent condition. I have maintenance records from myself and the previous owner, which are summarized in an Excel spreadsheet (available by email). Modern Jaguars are known for being very reliable cars, with Jaguar earning top honors in the most recent J.D. Powers long-term reliability study. The XJR is no exception, but there is one essential update that is required. The timing chain tensioners can fail, leading to expensive internal engine damage. To remedy this issue Jaguar redesigned the tensioners and made them available for retrofit. My XJR had the updated tensioners installed in 2007 at 75,000 miles along with a new timing chain. Do not purchase an XJR without this important update performed, or budget the money to have the work performed immediately. The previous owner spent nearly $4500 to have the timing chain tensioners updated. Other repairs of note by the past owner are a differential pinion seal (common issue), lower control arm wishbone bushings (common issue), and front main seal. It has also had an alignment, brake bleed, coolant flush, and injector flush. During my ownership I replaced the fuel filter, air filter, antenna mast, synthetic oil change, supercharger oil change, front upper and lower shock bushings, rear sway bar and link bushings, and Iridium spark plugs. I also cleaned the MAF, throttle body, electrical connections, lubed the u-joints, and replaced the headliner (common issue). The end result is an XJR that has had all of the common issues replaced, and needs absolutely nothing. It starts immediately, the engine is smooth and powerful, and the transmission shift quality is excellent. No leaks or smoking, no engine oil use. The ride is excellent, with no clunks or vibrations. Tracking on the highway is perfect, with no wheel shake or pulling. It’s simply an excellent running and driving car.

I am asking $11,500 OBO. Clean and clear KS title in hand. I can be reached at jessup3 at cox.net, or 316-680-1748. I have 86 pictures and the Excel maintenance file available upon request. Thanks for looking!

Because there's not a Jaguar for sale forum on Pelican? Don't be pissy, it's certainly off topic. I've sold one car to a Pelican by posting it in OT, why not? Besides, my car ADD seems to amuse everyone.

If I didn't already have 2 high maintenance Brit cars, I would be all over this.

My first wife was the female equivalent of that car.

I'm still paying for it.

Are you really complaining about the content of an OT thread. Surely this post must be in jest, or you just have a personality conflict with Matt. Either way, you look like an idiot

How is this any different than the spam link to Nike Air Jordan shoes?

Can I sell my Lawn Boy here?

Edit: Oh and "idiot" sounds like name calling to me.

I'm feeling the love today!

Seriously, shouldn't you be posting in the "That time of the month" thread? Congratulations on your self-appointed role as the OT police. Much like I ignore the annoying homeowner's association people that feel they have some authority in this world, I will also ignore you. I can think of many auto for sale posts in OT over the last few years, and not all of them are mine. When I think of the time I have spent (wasted?) here on OT, I fail to come up with anything you have contributed in a thought provoking or amusing manner, so perhaps this is a case of the pot calling the kettle black?

Actually they're pretty darn reliable. At least on a par with BMW, if not better. At 90k everything works, I can't say that for most of the other cars I've owned. Also, the chain tensioners are done, and 2000+ didn't have Nikasil issues.

Driver's seat has some bolster wear on the outer bolster, no wear-through though. Headliner is brand spanking new. PM on the way.

Although I am not a fan of Jag cars, that "R" model is very cool and definitely the one to have. Nice colors and nice car overall, 370hp is a nice no too.

Good luck with the sale Matt.

Never!

Thanks for all the compliments guys. It really is a great car, especially for a DD. The interior is awesome, the ride is sporty but never harsh, and the power is intoxicating. It has torque EVERYWHERE, is super smooth, and makes really nice noises. It's one of those cars that you could drive across the country and still feel refreshed when you get out.
