As for it being wasted on the young, I'd say it depends on the young. I got a lot of good advice from my grandparents about life, work, and money management and I listened to it. Lots of relatives think I've lived a charmed life, missing out on all sorts of headaches and heartbreaks, and my grandparents used to laugh about how they'd given everyone the same advice and out of 10 kids and 22 grandkids, only ONE listened. Then again, the old nowadays set a pretty bad example and rarely seem to have it together, so I get why most youth don't listen. |
I used to be able to run a mile in around 6 minutes, ran a 55 second 400 meter, 11.5 second 100m, and 4.3 second 40 yard dash.
This was 6-7 years ago. I now couldn't run a mile in under 7:15-7:20, and couldn't run a 400 in less than 65-68s. I can still pull off consistant low 12's in the 100m, however it's much more strained. My body weight has only increased by 10-15 lbs. My tone and strength have decreased however and I cannot run any sort of distance anymore without being winded. Smoking has seriously decreased my lung capacity. With the amount of work I have, I just don't have the time to exercise like I did in high school. |
