CSI Miami: Is this what Television has become?

Our kids have gotten into this show, perhaps it appeals to that level of maturity. The show consists of:

Glossy scenes putting the characters in perfect lighting - every time (just like real life).
A police station that is a cross between a night club and a museum.
Nobody at the station is ever burdened with paperwork or reports.
All crimes are solved by the end of the day (clues jump into their laps).
All victims and suspects are beautiful, shapely young woman (this I really don't have a problem with), average Joe America is not to be seen.
And worst of all , David Caruso's vast range of expressions (2).

Am I too far off here?

NCIS is a great copy. Your list is perfect. I'm not too sure that Caruso's character is anything special, but I've love to treat everyone as does Jethro Gibbs.

Add some loafers and a sports coat and you just described Miami Vice.

Vapid cop shows are nothing new.

Well said, gentlemen...and I feel the show has degraded from it's original episodes. It has far less jiggle these days.

Every opening scene always has a hot chick in it. And the "take the glasses off, insert catch phrase" thing at the end of every opening sequence is awesome. Awful and awesome.

Caruso is almost exclusively framed at an angle. Looking at the ground plaintively, or something. He's almost always touching his hands together. I think it's great. No, it's not reality TV.

The first CSI was good. The other two kinda suck. I like NCIS and The Mentalist. I would love to put the Patrick Jane treatment on someone.

They use that "dark screen" on the upper part to make it look dangerous and moody. Wow, I'm impressed.

Agree somewhat but whats better on these days? Survivor? Biggest Loser?

There is nothing but crap on television these days, and now I usually watch Discovery, History or the Military channel. You could not pay me enough to watch ABC, CBS or NBC.

We like NCIS (CBS), The Closer (TNT), The Mentalist (CBS), House (Fox), Criminal Minds (CBS), Burn Notice (USA), Without a Trace (CBS), and The Cleaner (A&E)... but we rarely catch them all.

The ones we make sure we catch (or record and watch later) are NCIS, The Closer, and The Cleaner.

You're smarter than most of us.

One of the motivating reasons for me to watch CSI Miami:

Yep. I dropped my cable about 6 months ago, and don't miss it a bit. I download the shows I want, and find I'm getting much more quality/productive stuff done now that I'm not sucked into watching shows like CSI Miami. Never mind none of the downloads have commercials, so I really haven't seen a commercial in 6 months.

It's also opened me up to some BBC shows that just aren't available in NA.

Really, it's not a BAD show, and I do love the look of it... awesome colours, nice boobage, etc., but the story and characters are a little weak, to say the least. It's eye candy.

With cable, yeah, I'd get sucked into watching it. Without, I don't bother, and I don't miss it.

And it was ALWAYS about Cally Ducane. Something about a strong chick with a gun.
