Think it was over 1 1/2 hours and mostly at high speed, surprising no one else was seriously injured.

Yea, the TV in the other room was on a channel with the chase playingat a bunch of wusses, they just let him go. How did that car, while on the grass, pull ahead of the cop on the street?? And the people on the roads, they see a car running from the cops, so they move over to let the perp by????

Is it just me or did that truck look like it was flying compared to the other traffic on the street? Did they not see the lights or hear the sirens?

I'm sure the person in the truck is fine. the perp in that car is dead for sure.

Update: I looked it up,

Perp in the car is in critical condition but somehow has survived for now.

Driver of the truck was fine.

Drivers father was on the news last night.

Kid has a bit of history with this sort of thing.

Kid is bi polar and was presumed to be off his meds.

"Bill Michel said he believes his son didn’t take his medication and the side effect of that was the chase that played out as live breaking news on television.

In the past, Bill Michel said he’s worked with police and got them to stop the pursuit, and he attempted that again when officers showed up at his door to alert him to what was happening.

Dallas County constables agreed to stop the chase, but state troopers never got the message and continued, he said."

Apparently was a routine stop but kid had some outstanding warrants.

Me thinks he needs a more "controlled" environment. Not sure about prison but a Mental Hospital might be in order to protect him and the public.

Dallas Cops are not supposed to engage in high speed chases.

+1 ....it should've been easy to stay one fender ahead of him and take him up to that guardrail and pin him. Or if that didn't work, take him out somehow... there were essentially no vehicles down through there.

Dallas cops obviously know how to handle a chase, they STOPPED the tape before going all LAPD on the guy!!

It was a Dallas County (Deputy) Constable that did not give up the chase. They have their own policies enacted by those who are elected, aka, the constable of any given precinct(s). The deputy constables, well you know...

Another chase/accident happened in Irving today around 9:15 a 1/2 block away from where I was working. A Repo man and a Dallas County Constable were on a mission to repo a ladies car that wouldn't give it up. Woman flees in the vehicle and DCC gives chase, a wreck ensues. At least one dog riding as a passenger died, not sure about the human occupants, but I've never seen a Honda accord crushed to a size that small. All the constable had to do was issue a warrant for her arrest, but they chased her instead.

The Commissioners Court in Dallas County may make a plea to the Constables to enact policy, but they can't force them.

The pursuit yesterday seemed quite senseless especially if they knew who it was and were speaking w/ the individual's father.

Sure, but if they didn't chase him down, then they've wasted a perfectly good 'high and tight' and tactical gear...

If that idiot in the truck didn't get him he would have been fine. He was doing well actually. Slick move passing someone then cutting across and taking an off-ramp. I've done than move myself when a friend and I were having a mock car chase.
