Fact is, people choose not to purchase health care, but have cable, the INTERNET, smoke a few packs of cigarettes a day and I don't see why those of us who do choose to be responsible should have to take care of some losers who don't take care of thremselves..

True, some do choose not to.

You price coverage for a family?

Any idea what it costs?

I think you'd be shocked.

A years worth of those expenses combined may not equal a months worth of coverage.

For far to many people the only way to afford it would be to give up all those things, live rent free and forgo eating 7 days a week.

If you are making the fed minimum wage, $7.25 x 40 x 56 = $16,240 pre tax dollars.

Average cost of coverage for single person is just under $500 per month ~$6,000 per year, family is just north of $1,000 so ~$12,000 per year.

Guess it just goes back to Living Within Your Means... If you aren't smart enough to get past MW, you don't need to start a family.. Can't feed em, don't breed em..

Don't always work that way my friend.

Despite all their planning and saving the world is full of intelligent people who have enjoyed six figure salaries and thru no fault of their own find themselves flippin burgers or cuttin lawns to put food on the table.

I think you should take a moment and give thanks that you were gifted with enough intelligence and talent to achieve your goals. It would be nice if everyone were capable of Einstein level thought but truth is some will never posses the intelligence for anything other than a MW job.

Imagine for a moment that we were all equally intelligent. Would we all have 6 figure jobs? Who would do the day to day MW labor? Society can't work without people of varying skills and intelligence.

If we were all equal you'd never have had your youthful claim to fame. You'd have been just like every other shlub that could do tricks on a bike.

Are there slackers and leeches out there? Absolutely, no argument from me. But I reserve judgement till I have some knowledge of a person to go on.

Was in FL a while back, was drivin my P car, pulled into a station and some dirty dude with a truck full of junk car parts was eyein me. He had on some ratty ass Porsche hat. How dare that loser even think he was at my level. I bet he stole the stuff.

You do that that was me taking stuff to the farm from my old warehouse.... I know that you are joking, but a guy in a Boxster really did do that to me last year....
I know about haveing & losing, as a youth, after my father retired from close to 40 year with the NMU, the Government froze all the Union higher ups retirement checks, and in some cases, depending on where you were with the Union, froze and/or seized assets.. We went ffrom having a nice boat, vacations in the island, private schools & Clubs to start over again. My father got his Capts license and went back to sea at age 60.. But, we came out of it, without the government (who put us in the situation) assistance... I have also had a friend,, great job, just finished builing his dream home (with lots of unplanned exspences,, kids in college,a couble of race cars, company he worked for got bought and he was out of a job.. He built pools for a while, did some professional driving instruction, what ever it took to earn money, and now he has a new job, more money, but lots of traveling.. So, I have an idea what it is like, and the lessons I learns as a boy are still with me.
