Went Sailing yesterday

There have been a few people who have posted about sailing dinghy's on here and I thought it looked like fun. I found a guy who gives gives lessons at the lake out here and signed up. The boat is a 420 and I am with a 32 year old chick who is also a beginner and pretty hot too

I had no idea how fast these things go... With a nice breeze they haul A$$ !

If you aren't planing a Scot you aren't going fast enough. Loosen up the rig and let it all hang out.

It's funny how 5-6 knots feels like 100mph when you are close hauled with a rail in the water.

Lake sailing the Scot, getting it on plane would be nice if the wind would cooperate, it's the calm days out there that drive me crazy.

I don't think I was cut out to be a sailor. Will be out there Sat w/ threatened T'storms. I would rather be on the golf course.

Southern Adirondacks, Piseco Lake, about 6.5 miles long and 1.25 wide, surrounded by mountains (hills). I used to do a lot of windsurfing on the lake and loved that. Clipping along on plane and then instantaneous wind shift and smacked down into the water, all harnesed in, now that **** was fun.

You're off to a fun adventure. Damn, I miss our mutineer! Just had to quite when Cindy's MS got too much to sail...so we gave the boat to our daughter, who then sold it. Damn, I miss our Mutineer. Really, I had more good times in that little surfboard with sails than I did in a 911S.

Planing on a reach or surfing downwind absolutely rocks. A 420 is a fun little boat.

I gave up sailing, but I used to crew for a racing 37 ft in the Gulf of Mexico (TX) and the Apostle Islands (WI) for Head Foil out of Lake City, MN.

Anyway, I'm very near WBL and have several friends that are members of the yacht club there. A couple other local Pelicans are in that area too. They'll chime in if they'd like.

I also have a couple friends that work at the new place there, Admiral's? Look for Kara or Emily. Kara is mid-twenties, blonde, cute, sweet, and single.

My kind of sailing, 20 knots on a 8ft board. It's fast.

These are aloso a lot of fun in a decent wind. Not usually a beginner boat, but you should find someone to take you out....If you like Porsches, you'll get hooked

Jenna de Rosnay, world class windsurfer, husband lost at sea while windsurfing. Sad story.

what kind of boat is that. i had an 18 foot sol cat, very fast. i wish i still had it. i flipped end over end when i was down in florida. a storm came up and so did the wind. i was running down wind and the leaward hule went under water and the boat just kept going. i only turned it over 3 times in 10 years or so we had it. another florida storm popped up, out of the 6 or 7 boats out, i was the only one that did not turn over. man i miss it!

all you find around here are hobies, the 16's really suck. i was looking at a hobie 20 a few years ago, but started thinking about setting it up and getting it down on the beach.
i sailed a prindle 16 once. nice boat. turned it over in the first 30 minutes out. much lighter and different than my sol cat. the prindle 18's always looked interesting. i dont like the roller jibs on them though. my jib had battens, helped it go fast.
