It's not that Cateras weren't nice driving cars. They were just poorly executed and plagued with quality issues.

They have a few well known issues (heater step up motors, the oil-AF cooler, and an interference engine design), but nothing major. Certainly nothing like the known issues a typical Porsche has. For the record, I fix my own cars, and used to be an automotive tech.
The Catera's real problem was poorly marketing the car as something it wasn't....a Cadillac.
